Yesterday we visited the fabulous instructional coaches of Clear Creek ISD We are so thankful for our teachers and staff who are working so hard as they prepare for testing.
They are an amazing group and we absolutely loved being able to bring some puppy cuddles to their monthly meeting session.

Ever notice how your Shih Tzu magically vanishes when treats are handed out-or worse, acts uninterested? It might not be about pickiness at all.
Dogs actually have individual food preferences, just like us. But even more interesting? Scent plays a major role. Shih Tzus have short snouts, which slightly limits their sniffing power compared to long-nosed breeds-making bland or unfamiliar treats less enticing.
Another reason? Anxiety or past negative associations. If a pup was overwhelmed during training or accidentally startled during "treat time," they may avoid it altogether. And in multi-dog homes, a more dominant sibling could be stealing the show (and the snacks), making your pup hang back.
If this sounds familiar, try offering high-value, strong-smelling treats in a quiet space, one-on-one. Positive reinforcement should always feel safe, fun, and rewarding.

Your dog's needs must be met in this order for them to thrive and for your relationship to stay balanced.
Remember - if they don't know what is expected of them, they can't succeed!
Start simple, be consistent, and always lead with calm confidence.
