Although island 3 looks totally flooded out right this minute, see this photo from 10 days ago when Pickles went missing and you will see this couple's head sticking out of the top of the trees that are on the island......So, if eggs were laid on the top of the island, where these folks are standing, the eggs are probably NOT underwater. Same with island #2. Mr. Cartwrights property is flooded under and around his house in the park and rain is about to start, but right now, the nests are probably still OK, IF they built them at the top of the islands. So still hope for Pickles, in my opinion.

I am leaving town this week and need someone to feed the geese Thursday night, then Friday, Saturday and Sunday twice a day. Morning feed is anytime before 9 or 10 AM and evening feed is usually somewhere between 5 and 7. I will leave you my golf cart that has food and water on it. Any takers? I would appreciate it. Still no sighting of Pickles. Thanks, Roselyn

Pickles is missing. Last seen Thursday night. Today Peep Peep was stressed and would not come out of the water to eat with the rest of the flock.

Well, it figures that I would start a new page for the Goose-Z family, and Pickles disappears. I have looked for her all day. I fed her at 6 last night. This morning the rest of the group was hanging out by the pier, close to the swimming pool. Not stressed at all. After eating they all swam to the closest island and hung out in one spot. In a while they all went ashore onto the island, then they all emerged, Still no Pickles. I talked to a lady who raises these geese and she said that Gracie may have laid an egg or two there and that Pickles may have decided she needed to sit on them. Sort of like "its my baby doll". If any of you have a canoe or kayak, it would be nice to paddle up into the swamp and see if she is in there. I know where they have been going, and its only about 30-40 feet from shore......The lady who raises them says we need to remove the nest from there as she thinks its not a safe place for her since there are no lights or people there........Anyway, I would be happy just to know if Pickles is there or not.

Friends, i thought i would start a page for some of us that live on the island and care about sustaining the goose family at Jarboe Bayou. Occassionally i will go on vacation and then one day i will die, so i want to be sure these beautiful creatures basic needs, mainly fresh water, are cared for in my absence. There are several children who love the geese and it would be nice to get them involved so that they will foster them as the child gets older. Since some kids are mean to the geese, throwing sticks and rocks, it will be nice to have some child advocates for the birds. I am retired and available most all the time if you ever want to join me at feeding time to develop a relationship with them. Roselyn 281-455-0407
