Bubba Update!

He got a skin infection 2 weeks ago that we are finishing meds for, it was so disgusting but now is all healed up he has learned to get eyedrops like a pro! Everyone at the vet loved him😍

He's working on learning sit and more importantly learning the leash isn't so weird 🤣

He loves to be on his back 🤣😂🤣 and we both are working on manifesting a big soft couch for him to roll around on instead of rocky concrete.

All the dogs deserve homes, but this guy really REALLY deserves one. He is going to be someone's whole world...I can feel it. We just haven't been connected to them yet ✨️

He has an intake assessment Thursday with - send him all the good vibes🫶

She got adopted!!!🪅🥳🎊🎉🎉🙌🎀

She got adopted by some dog savvy people in CO who are willing to give her the time she needs, has a dog brother named Todd, and she even claimed the guest room as her perfect princess throne🤣

Got the chance to finally meet Ozzi the new livestock guardian dog at Jester King! So glad that called me up to consult on setting him up for success with some puppy training and giving me the chance to learn more about working with a working dog!

And any excuse to hang out in Austin with Lissa and the goats of courseeee and I am gonna take it! 🤣 Can't wait to see the lovely dog he is going to grow up to be💘

I am your dog's trainer, a confidant of your canine frustrations and sometimes... a death doula.
Today Lucy transitioned out of this world. She was a fiesty girl and a very complex case. The only dog to date that the veterinary behaviorist called me directly to discuss her concerns when referring her to me 4 years ago. She had developed bladder cancer and the tumors spread.

We cooked her a steak, played ball and treasure hunt in the yard, did some of her favorite training, and gave her some enrichment toys. When it was too emotional for her mom at the end, I stayed with her until her last breath so her mom did not have to see that part...

Martha never gave up on Lucy. Through the aggression towards her, the frustration when she was pottying in the house, her demanding attitude...She showed Lucy what unconditional love is. Skin heals and carpets can be cleaned, but a love like this can't be replaced.

Hug your dog trainer friends🫶
It's not all "playing with puppies all day"
But it's worth it.

Remember less than a month ago I was doing some training to help Bubba feel better about petting?
Now he know how to give consent super obviously❤️

Sometimes dogs just need the chance to be a part of the conversation in being touched.
Because this guy LOVES being touched.

Who needs a guy with a ton of neck?
Ya know I love me a dog with some NECK😍
He does not have placement with a rescue yet and needs vaccines and to be neutered.

If it is in your capacity,
Helping financially support his vet care would be such a gift to this handsome man so he can get to the home he deserves.

*side rant*

I personally don't belive we need to rely on systems to help. I believe I live in a network of people who step up when they can, give when they have capacity, and together we can create the world we want to see instead of waiting on some "system" to save us. Or Bubba. ❤️

Bc in Bubba's case.... a big black pit bull in Houston TX who is afraid at first, "saving him" through the system means a HIGH chance of being euthanized. Which is literally the opposite 🤣

We don't need to rely on those poor odds.

I am relying on my community.

My neighbor (who I just met this week) is a Vietnam vet with a rough exterior and a soft heart; he is agreeing to let Bubba stay safe in his yard.

My other neighbor (who I just met last week!) is a late night dumpster diver and scoring me HIGH QUALITY tossed out food for Bubba to eat.

And I am making sure he is loved and fed twice a day, teaching him people can be safe spaces.

Feeling hella grateful today for my amazing clients. Last week I unexpectedly had the amazing stop by to see me before they drove back to Austin and we were having such a good time that I asked my client that day to reschedule and she was more than happy to oblige.

I feel very grateful I am not treated like a cog in a machine. My work is personal, supported, and we get to see the humanity in each other. I didn't have to make up some excuse or cut our visit short, I was just given grace that I will undoubtedly return! So many of my clients have shared in this humanity with me. Especially their generosity when I was sick! And now today I am dping paperwork while listening to wind chimes and three precious babies resting in soft grass on this beautiful day.

I am feeling nostalgic about the life I have built here and all the connections I have made through working with dogs. And I just wanted to share it!

I hope you are finding moments of gratitude too✨️
