Haven't been posting alot as honestly, I've just been trying to provide the best care for all my patients while being a present mom and wife. By the time I'm home, all I have left goes to my beautiful family. Today is heavy. One of the hardest I've honestly had in a while. Vet med truly puts the emotional wheel to the test every day. Its scary how you can go from smiles and butt scratches to heartbreak all in less than 40 minutes. I'll share more about my sweet patient and his story when I find more strength than what I have now. Please pray for his sweet mama and his human brother. They both truly need it. I do too 🙏🏽 💔

Our office will be closed Friday April 3rd, 2026 in Observance of Good Friday. Our website will continue to operate for appointment request as well as prescription request. Please be advised that phone lines, emails, nor text messages are monitored during our closure period. We will resume normal business hours Monday April 6, 2026. Dear B.V.S. Family, 
Our office will be closed Tuesday 3/17/2026 for vehicle maintenance and for personal recovery for Dr. Baker following a medical procedure. We will resume normal business hours 03/18/2026. Should your pet experience an emergency during our closure, we recommend contacting your nearest animal ER or Urgent Care facility. We thank you for your understanding.

Ceasar Pupdate: We performed surgery on Ceasar on Tuesday of this week as we were not able to get him to vomit the bow and the cost for endoscopy was not within budget for our family at this time. Lucky for him his mom is a skilled surgeon.💪🏽🙏🏽. I went in expecting to remove the metal bow but also found my son's orange eraser, 2 Valentines Day toys, the metal bow broken in 2 pieces, and 1/4 of a soft baseball that also belongs to my son.
Ceasar hasn't eaten things he's not supposed to since he was 8 months old. My conclusion is that the metal bow caused discomfort and pica which is a condition in which you eat things you normally wouldn't and that also usually has no nutritional value. Ceasar has continued to do well and will be on a canned diet for the next 3 weeks to allow his stomach to properly heal.
We also spoke with my son about cleaning up toys and have a new rule of no small toys in the living room as our dogs aren't allowed in the kids room or kitchen due to reasons such as this.
Funfact: My son was soooo sad that he couldn't get his toys back🙃🤮

These dogs just be doing stuff!!! Its been one MONTH of a week. I notice my own dog not wanting to eat kibble for about 2 weeks. I also noticed that the color of his white fur had begin to change to what we call bronzing which he has never had. He also begin having diarrhea this week and vomited twice. He Scarfs down everything else (cheese, meat, canned food, chicken and rice, french fries). But completely refuses kibble. I also noticed that he seemed thinner. My first thought was to assess his teeth and do a f***l analysis which were normal. My second was okay lets do a full work up because he just doesn't look right. Long story short, we found this beautiful metal hairbow in his stomach courtesy of my daughter's collection. I can only assume he ate it about 2 weeks ago because thats when he begin to show symptoms but then would improve. Anyways, what trouble your fur babies getting into? 😢🫶🏽

Privacy is one of the things I enjoy most about housecall visits. Most of my patients come onto the unit so comfortable as if they never left home, because they havent. 😉

The number one reason pet's typically present to ER or Urgent Vet over the holidays is usually severe gastrointestinal symptoms often associated with pancreatitis.
