The newest addition to the Martin family Everyone meet Hans Baron Von-Frieden!

Puppies start learning things the instant they are born which is why I started working with Hans (and Zasha) shortly after getting him!
To be successful, I had to observe and understand his body language first. He was teaching me his cues on what he needed. When I respond to those, a bond between us began to grow which is top priority to me as his owner/provider. I needed him to know that he can trust me and rely on me. Well within the short time I’ve had him, he knows:
- His name and comes when called
- His eating place in the kitchen. He goes in there ans waits letting me know he’s hungry.
- His designated potty place outside and how to get there and back inside on his own.

Zasha is facing her fear of boxes by playing a game! Dogs’ brains can’t multitask so here she is too focused in getting her ball back that it makes it easier for her to not be nearly as scared of the boxes.

This is canine psychological rehabilitation!

Over a week ago, I dogsat for a friend and had the privilege to apply some unplanned psychological rehabilitation throughout her stay. (Canine psychological rehabilitation is my passion and lifelong career goal).

I would like to introduce Annie, a beautiful and sweet 3-year-old heeler. Annie is intelligent and well-trained especially in the “heel”. This I knew was because she was trained to do so but her behavior also had me believe that a majority of it was because she struggled with a low self-esteem and a healthy confidence in public. This caused her to also struggle with a shy bladder. She would only potty when she was completely alone and often held it if she didn’t find it a convenient time for her to go. I saw this as an opportunity to put my skills to work and see what we were both capable of.

I am thrilled to report that by the end of her stay, with 90% of Zasha’s assistance and my application of psychological rehabilitation exercises tailored to her insecurities, Annie became braver and began to express confidence. She would defecate and urinate within seconds of being let outside without any bribery or coaxing necessary. She now urinates with confidence while on a leash or a few feet away from her owner. This was such a beautiful and successful transformation to watch unfold!

Friends, I need a second to vent on a topic that has been and is one of my biggest pet peeves for a long time now but I haven’t spoken up about. That is…

Fake service dogs or (ESA) emotional support animal.
I’m aware that I may lose some friends over this and that’s alright. I have seen it more in the veterinary clinics I’ve been at than anywhere else but it bothers me just the same. I have also had the honor and privilege to meet enough true service dogs to see the difference.

I believe it’s very wrong, disrespectful and insulting to see owners put “Service Dog” harnesses on their pet and make it very evident to everyone based on it’s behavior that it’s not a true service dog. I’m disappointed that companies have made light of that hard-earned title by selling these harnesses for any owner to use on their pets just so they can take them out anywhere in public. True service dogs go through long and rigorous training to earn that title and responsibility which also makes them very valuable. And their sole purpose on/off the clock is to keep their owners alive.
For ESAs, I’ve seen very few amount of people who have one and witnessed the dog actually needed for this purpose. Most dogs who are called ESAs appear to be very emotionally unstable and are not in sync with their owner. They’re not trained to help their owners control their emotions but will rather feed off the owner and react negatively. ESAs should not be recognized the same way true service dogs are and should not enjoy those same privileges.

I will continue to stand by this belief so that true service dogs will not lose value in their title and duty to their families, period.

LCC has relocated to Lubbock, TX with a few new changes but still striving after the same goals as before!

Overnight dog sitting service is no longer available, however drop-in visits will be the new service to take its place and private 1-on-1 dog behavioral training will continue to be available.

Drop-In Day Rates *After a meet & greet day

1 dog- $15/per visit
Additional- $5/dog if 2 or more

Behavioral Training Session Rates *After a meeting/evaluation

1hr- $30
2hr(max.)- $50
