Thank you to Ocean View Veterinary Hospital for the sponsorship again this year. It was a wonderful day.

Dear friends,

I’ve started this letter a dozen times. There’s too much gratitude to fit in words!

On Sunday, more than 235 of you ran, walked, cheered, volunteered, and showed up for Tom at the 4th Annual Strong Like Tom 5K — our biggest year by far. Some of you knew Tom for decades. Some never met him but came anyway, because that’s the kind of community this is. Standing there watching the park fill up, I kept thinking about how much he would have loved every second of it.

From the bottom of my heart — and on behalf of the entire StrongLikeTom team — thank you.

This year moved me in ways I didn’t expect. The race grew. The silent auction overflowed with beauty made and donated by your hands. And in an act of breathtaking generosity, two anonymous gifts of $50,000 each were made directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering in Tom’s honor. I don’t have words big enough for that kind of love.

But here is what I most want you to know: your support is funding real science, right now.

Dr. Dana Rathkopf, who treated Tom at MSK, couldn’t be with us on Sunday, but she sent a letter that was read aloud. I want to share part of it, because it says better than I ever could what you all made possible:

“With the support of StrongLikeTom, we have been able to advance innovative research for men with high-risk prostate cancer… I’m especially excited to share that we have completed enrollment in an investigator-initiated clinical trial testing a promising new treatment. The support from Strong Like Tom allows us to perform additional studies on the tumor tissue collected during surgery — studies that help us understand why treatment works for some patients but not others. Importantly, this additional research might not otherwise be possible, because there’s often not enough funding to support these kinds of studies. I am deeply grateful to Strong Like Tom for making this work possible.”

Tom understood that life isn’t measured only in milestones — it’s measured in ordinary moments with the people we love. More birthdays. More barbecues. More graduations. Because of you, more families will get to keep those moments

In Closing I would like to share an article published by Tapinto Phillipsubrg read it here https://www.tapinto.net/towns/phillipsburg/articles/4th-annual-strong-like-tom-5k-draws-record-crowd-to-stewartsville-raising-funds-for-cancer-research

Also a wonderful friend made a recap video. Watch it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQQjBLjLrTBdt4U7oL4kic2cKp7wK5_k/view

With all my love and gratitude,

Mahy

and the whole Strong Like Tom family

💙 Thank You, Ocean View Veterinary Hospital! 💙
For the third consecutive year, Ocean View Veterinary Hospital has chosen to sponsor the Strong Like Tom 5K Run/Walk, and our family couldn't be more grateful.
As Tom's sister, it means so much to me that the place where I work continues to support a cause that is so deeply personal to our family.
Tom believed in science. He believed in hope. And he believed that even if breakthroughs didn't come in time for him, they would come in time for someone else.
Because of sponsors like Ocean View Veterinary Hospital, we're able to continue funding metastatic prostate cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering and help move that hope forward.
Thank you to the doctors, technicians, staff, and everyone at Ocean View Veterinary Hospital for standing with our family for the past three years.
Your generosity is helping create a legacy that will continue to make a difference.
💙 Every Mile Moves Science Forward.

The five-second rule: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it there for five seconds, it's too hot to walk your dog on the pavement.

"If the asphalt is so hot you could probably fry an egg on it, then it can burn your dog’s feet. Also keep in consideration certain dog’s pads, especially puppies are not as adaptable to heat and may not be able to stand even temperatures you can," said the SPCA Florida.

So don't wait for your poor pup to do the "hot potato" dance, take just five seconds to check out that pavement before your walk.

If you do walk them please check their paws when you get home. Check for any injuries to the paw pads.

Ocean View Veterinary Hospital will be open July 4th from 8a till 2pm for any emergencies.
