Woah, I found some magic potions in my colony with brown / red spots instead of black spots.

I am considering isolating them and giving them their own line.

I am also dwelling on mixing with my Punta Canas to see what fun colors we can get!

Winter projects are already being planned out 😄

Lemme tell you, the last month has been nothing but replacing soil, upgrading bins, and sifting dirt for babies I may have missed. Just hobby things. Luckily this isn't a regular occurrence .

Devil’s rice aka Dwarf white isopods

Trichorhina tomentosa

Often a popular isopod within the hobby. Its 50/50 on whether you love or hate them! They're phenomenal clean up crew and do well even with the softer bodied creatures.

Something cool and a little alarming, is that they can reproduce without males! Dwarf Whites reproduce through parthenogenesis. Females can produce offspring without being fertilized. A small starter colony can quickly grow into an army.

They're loved due to the quick reproduction, but hated due to being really invasive. They are known escape artists and can infiltrate other colonies.

The more you know ✨️

I honestly get so excited so show everyone in my life how cute my little crabby friends are. I'm truly so passionate about them.

What other "weird" or "odd" labeled pets do you have that normal people find less than appealing?

I'll post mine in the comments :)
