Dog Days at Discovery is a free event where pets and their people can meet, greet, play, hear live music, shop, eat, make and see art, plus much more - all at Discovery UMC in the Trace Crossings Neighborhood of Hoover. It is an opportunity to meet your pet-loving neighbors and have fun showing off your furry family members. Well-behaved dogs (and children) are welcome; dogs must be on-leash. Ther

e will be live music, food trucks, activities for children and dogs, and pet adoptions. Vendors will include all manner of pet-related businesses from rescues, groomers, and pet sitters to pet photographers and carpet cleaners – everything we need to learn about taking the best possible care of our pets. In addition, for those who are interested, there will be a Blessing of the Pets ceremony in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology, who expressed his devotion to God through his love for all of God’s creation. He cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God.
