I will absolutely sit at a distance and throw delicious treats to this mama until she decides I’m worthy of her friendship. Progress is being made… slowly… very slowly, and that’s ok 🥰

Meanwhile, she’s over here being an absolute supermom to NINE puppies. She feeds them, cleans them, organizes them like a tiny chaotic daycare, and makes sure every single one is safe and cared for. She deserves a trophy, a spa day, and unlimited snacks.

Once the pups are old enough and fully vetted, they’ll all be available for adoption — and their brave mama will be too once the puppies are weaned and she is fully vetted.

This is a first for Pup Pit Stop!

We’re built for very short, very temporary holds — but rescue work has a way of reminding you that sometimes the rules need to bend.

This mama dog and her nine newborn puppies were living outside in trash. Literally. When Saving Sage Animal Rescue stepped up to save them, they needed a longer‑term foster so mama could safely do her job (which she is doing beautifully). Finding fosters for a mom with newborns is incredibly hard, and this was one of those moments where an exception wasn’t just reasonable — it was necessary.

So here they are.
This spicy mama and her nine tiny baby tamales will be decompressing, healing, and growing in a safe, cozy space for the next 5–6 weeks until they’re weaned and ready for their own foster homes.

Rescue is never predictable, but it is always worth it. 💜🐾

💜🐾My heart is so full tonight.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to Pup Pit Stop, whether it was something from the Amazon wish list, an Amazon gift card, or a PayPal or Venmo donation. Every single thing helps me keep this little rescue support mission going.

Today I got the sweetest surprise. Someone sent me the storage bench from my wish list, and I want to thank that mystery person with my whole heart. I finally have somewhere to sit that is not the ground, and a perfect place to keep all of the Pup Pit Stop supplies together and ready.

But what means the most is knowing how many people believe in me, support what I do, and most importantly, love these dogs right along with me. I am so grateful for this community. 💜🐾

We are in need of help with application processing. We had a call scheduled for this morning with a previous adopter but were unfortunately stood up which leaves this position available and urgent. This is a remote volunteer position. We need someone who is available a minimum of three days a week to help process foster and adoption applications.

This position requires organizational skills, technical knowledge, and critical thinking skills. You need to be able to have access to a desktop and phone to call references.

Please only apply if you are committed to helping on a regular basis and long term. Be realistic about your availability. We have trained and brought on several volunteers this year who slowly disappear after a few weeks. This is a big waste of time for us, to spend hours training and then not even have that person stick it out.

We are a small and close knit team. We do a LOT of good work. This is perfect for someone who is retired and wants to immerse themselves in rescue work. It is not easy but it is SO rewarding. Applications coordinators are literally crucial and to running a rescue and you would play a very large role.

This sweet girl was found wandering the streets in rough shape. Neighbors shared that her owner no longer wanted her, opened his gates, and left her to fend for herself — no love, no comfort, no safety. The only kindness she knew came from neighbors who fed her when they could.

stepped in to help her, made sure she was safe, and transported her to me. With the support of .rescue and one of their amazing fosters, she made her way to Pup Pit Stop for a few days of rest and care. She arrived with fleas, itchy skin, missing patches of hair, and what looks like a rub mark from being chained or tethered. She didn’t even come with a name.

But despite everything she’s endured, she is nothing but a smooshy, loving, trusting, happy, bouncy girl.

Meet Bunny. 💜🐾

Bunny is now safe and soaking up all the love she’s been deprived of for far too long. And yes, my husband did cook steak for her (and our dogs/foster dog) tonight 😭

She heads to her foster on Sunday to continue her journey toward her happily ever after.

💜🐾I started Pup Pit Stop because I wanted to give rescue‑backed dogs with a plan in place a safe, cozy spot to land for a little while before they head off to the beginning of the rest of their lives. Just a short stay, a soft place to breathe, and a reminder that good things are waiting for them.

As a registered Florida nonprofit (pending 501(c)(3) status), I take in every pup at no cost to rescues. I cover the comfy AC, the food, the toys, the supplies — and every pup gets their monthly preventatives the moment they arrive, because most of them came from places where they probably hadn’t had one in a long time. Fresh start energy only ✨

I also funded the entire construction, labor, and materials out of my own pocket because I wanted this space to feel like a warm hug the second a dog walks in. And sometimes I hop in the car to help transport pups too, because picking them up from less than ideal conditions and watching them head toward their next chapter fills my heart in the best way.🥰

I want to take a moment to clarify who I am, what I do, and what I stand for in rescue work.

I am not a boarding facility.
I am not paid staff.
I am not here to protect organizations from the consequences of their own choices.

I am a volunteer and a foster. I give dogs a safe place to land when they’re coming from difficult or unstable situations, and I care for them until they can make it to their next step. Everything I provide — food, supplies, decompression space, flea/tick/heart worm preventatives, safety, and time — comes out of my own pocket.

Pup Pit Stop exists to offer dogs a safe place to breathe, reset, and feel protected after whatever they’ve been through. That safety isn’t just physical. It includes a voice. It includes advocacy when something is wrong. That is part of the promise I make to every dog who comes through here.

Recently, someone from a rescue told me I should have handled things privately. My response was simple: nonprofit organizations that accept public donations owe the public transparency and accountability. That is not drama. That is responsibility.

I did not bash anyone or attack anyone. I shared my experience and advocated for a dog who could not advocate for himself. That is the entire point of rescue work.

I also want to thank everyone who supports what I do here — whether you donate, share posts, foster, transport, or simply care about animals in need. It truly takes a village. But part of being a village is holding all of our villagers, including ourselves, accountable. That is how we grow, improve, and ensure the animals always come first.

I am here to help animals. If friendships form along the way, that’s wonderful. But I will not enable negligence, minimize harm, or stay quiet when an animal is put at risk. Silence protects organizations, not animals.

If that makes some people uncomfortable, that’s fine. My priority is, and will always be, the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of the dogs who pass through my hands.

Update:
I’m adding the time‑stamped video from 10:26pm on 5/24/2026, when Reff was dropped off to me. I wasn’t planning to share this, but since it’s being said that his wound got worse while he was with me (which is the exact same thing I was told about the adopter), I need to set the record straight. The video shows the wound was already severe when he arrived. I’m sharing this only so the truth is clear and so the focus stays where it should — on getting Reff the care and stability he needs.
🚨Reff still needs a rescue transfer🚨

I want to share what I learned from my experience with Reff, because transparency, honesty, and accountability matters, including for myself. I believed the first version of events I was told, and I’ve learned the importance of doing my own due diligence — even when my only intention is to help.

Reff is under Saving Paws 4 Love. I’m not naming them to start drama. I’m naming them because people deserve to make informed decisions about the organizations they support.

After speaking directly with the adopter, I learned that Reff already had a severe hotspot when he was dropped off for adoption. She was not given medication, a cone, or supplies, and bought her own. She also shared that Reff bit her when she tried to treat the wound — completely understandable for a dog in pain. None of this was communicated to me.

The rescue did mention a hotspot — but not until after he was already at my house, in the dark, when I couldn’t see the wound clearly. I didn’t realize how bad it truly was until the next morning. Reff was dropped off with no mention of the severity or the bite incident. That was not fair to me or to him.

Pup Pit Stop is a clean, safe, but outdoor decompression space, not a medical facility. Had I known the truth, I would have immediately said this was not a suitable placement for a medical dog. Reff deserved a setup equipped for medical care from the start.

Reff is now at Town & Country Animal Hospital in Miami, where he’ll be treated and boarded. A boxer‑specific rescue is willing to take him once they receive the evaluation videos they requested, and I truly hope they are able to take him.

This experience reminded me why clear communication, medical follow‑through, and accountability matter in rescue work. Reff has been failed more than once. That cannot continue.

🆘URGENT: Reff needs a boxer-specific rescue🆘

Reff needs immediate help.

He’s a 2–4 year old boxer mix who was pulled from the shelter by , who now needs our help so his future does not remain uncertain.

Reff has already been neutered and fully treated for heartworm. After a month in boarding, he developed a hotspot — manageable, treatable, nothing extreme.

Two days ago he was adopted.
Less than 24 hours later, the adopters refused to keep a cone on him, the hotspot worsened, and they told the rescue to come get him or they would call animal control.

Reff is safe with me at Pup Pit Stop right now, decompressing and getting proper care. But he needs a boxer‑specific rescue who can take him ASAP. He has been failed enough times, and he deserves a team that understands his breed and will advocate for him.
