Great article on a local WA state service dog organization.

One of Molly‘s puppies went to a woman who had worked for Brigadoon Service Dogs. She chose me because one of her friends showed her videos I was posting, showing how I socialize puppies.

She told me that I was the only breeder she had ever met that socialized puppies as if they were preparing to become service dogs. .

👉Socialization is absolutely critical from a very young age. The first 3 weeks of a puppy’s life are all about early neurologic stimulation. From 3 to 16 weeks of age is a critical window, when puppies need exposed to just about everything they might encounter the rest of their lives.

During that critical window if they’re exposed, they understand that these are just normal parts of everyday life - things like loud noises, vacuum cleaner, cleaners, wheelchairs these aren’t scary when they’re seen as “business as usual”. I take this seriously, and hope those who adopt my puppies will continue the socialization, so their dogs become fearless and confident.

Wow! I used to give away a lot of the nose-to-tail parts, like cow tongue. I was SHOCKED to see how much it sells for at Costco! 😳

Looks like I’m either going to learn to make La Lengua tacos, or save them for my pups from now on!

I took Molly for a quick weight check today, and her weight is perfect- ,and of course, she’s happy & healthy. She really loves going to the pet store, because nobody can resist giving her attention. Molly is PAWsitive humans exist to pet her. She might be right!

Do you make treats for your pups? I often get told, when I mention that I get cheap or free grassfed organs & meat scraps from my rancher friend, how lucky I am. Some days, I wish I could share all this “luck” 😉. Haha.

Today I thawed out 5 gallon- size ziplock bags of beef scrap. It’s just all sorts of scraps, tossed in bags by butcher, then frozen. The scrap has to be thawed, sorted, high-graded & cut up. I think I processed about 30-ish pounds of beef scrap today. Mostly liver, but there was a lot of fat & junk to toss. Once its freeze dried, it will be terrific. It was a lot of work, but $0.00 is a great price, so there’s a trade off.

P.s. I had to wash my hands a gazillion times to get the smell of liver off!!

I freeze dried ground beef, burger patties, ground chicken & grassfed liver today for my pups. All raw. All healthy. They are so happy for their never-ending supply of real food!

Do you give your pups fish oil? We do, every day.
The fish oil liquids made for dogs can be ridiculous prices. I don’t buy those anymore. Instead I buy one of these from Costco for my pups. The first time I give a puppy a gel cap, they aren’t sure what to do with it. If that happens to you, try poking a hole in it. Fish oil is irresistible to dogs.

I just got some new pictures of Frankie. He was the only black male in the litter, and he was this little bitty pup with the biggest attitude.

I still remember meeting his dad at Seatac. Duong was smiling from ear to ear when I met him and handed him the puppy he’d been watching thru my videos for weeks.

Frankie sure didn’t stay little! What a good looking pup!
