As we’ve said before, we have the best clients. We truly enjoy the presence and conversation of the people and dogs we have the privilege of working with. Sometimes that also means going to really cool properties and seeing the things that people work so hard to obtain.

We got to work with an amazing dog surrounded by horses and chickens. In this lesson we worked on recall. The added activity in the environment created some beneficial distractions. These distractions help to reinforce our training and create added difficulty.
We even had a jet (and helicopter) fly overhead. This pup did great. Can’t get much more distracting than that!

Such an awesome moment to watch.

This is a demonstration of a successful level 2 trial run. It’s takes years of daily training to get to this level. This makes passing each level that much more emotional and incredible. The support these competitors show for each other, and all of the dogs, makes for a phenomenal environment to be in. In this environment you can quickly see the strong bond between handlers and their dog(s). These dogs operate in this manner in a high stress environment with NO TOOLS (a whistle is allowed in some instances), just voice commands.

Each dog breed has its purpose it was originally bred for. Allowing a dog to participate in the activities it finds fulfilling is paramount. We hope you’ll find just as much joy as we do.

What a perfect day for this PSA (Protection Service Association) event. Shown in the video is a “car jacking” exercise. Seeing so many impressive dogs and handlers all in one location is quite the sight! Our favorite part is seeing how happy the dogs are after participating. ❤️

As many of you have guessed, we have a new training location!

While we were heartbroken our previous location didn’t work out, this confirms our beliefs things happen for a reason.

We are beyond grateful for how welcoming everyone in the town of Wi******er has been. As soon as we talked to many of the people working for the town, we knew we had found a special place. Now that we are mostly moved in we feel right at home.

We had the pleasure of completing our first training session in the new space with these two. As shown, we always ensure to add some play into our sessions. This creates a fun environment for everyone.

We can’t wait to give you all a virtual tour!

This is what behavior modification looks like.

Not always obedience.
Not always engagement.
Not always doing something.

A lot of the work is teaching a dog that they can just exist.

This environment used to have her completely overstimulated. She couldn’t settle, couldn’t switch off, and everything happening around her demanded a response.

Now we can sit on a bench, drink coffee, watch the world go by, and she can relax.

That’s a pretty big change.

The goal is to change a dogs response to the environment, not make them stop noticing it.

A while ago, I had the pleasure of knowing the two dogs that created these two boys pretty well. They’re incredible dogs and I’m very grateful for that time in my life.

Cinder became my dog before he was a year old and is my absolute love. He is how I fell in love with the breed. We can’t tell the other dogs, but he’s definitely my favorite. 🤐

Earlier this week, I was told his brother, Drager, had been surrendered near the beginning of this year somewhere in Vermont. Thanks to social media and some wonderful people, we were able to find him and bring him into our family.

It’s already fun to see the similarities and differences in these two as well as which is more like what parent. Drager is very similar to his mother whereas Cinder is more like his father.

Drager is derived from German and means “bearer/carrier” - someone who bears a burden.
This name was given to him as a puppy and I think it fit the first part of this life appropriately.

Moving forward, though, he will be Draco which is Latin for dragon. Dragons are associated with strength, power, and transformation which fit the life he is now living.

Anyway…here are our boys and we’re about to have some fun!

📣 Quill has found his forever home and will become a Minnesota resident in October!

Our wonderful, amazing, and complete GSP rockstar has come SO far and has won the hearts of a pointer family!

He’ll be enjoying 14 acres with his new Pudelpointer sister. 🙌🏻

Thank you to everyone who followed along on his journey, cheered him on, and shared him. And to his amazing foster who is 1 in a million. We couldn’t have made this match without your support!
