Woof! It was a steamy one today, so we took a break at the dog park to rest. For the rest of the summer we'll be starting at 8 a.m. to hopefully beat the heat.

It does look like rain, but I thought that last Saturday too. 🤣

Well, Mother Nature fools me again! Turns out Saturday was a great day for a walk, but since it was raining 20 minutes away at my house I didn't go. 🫤
Thanks (and apologies) to Beth and her pack for keeping the walk alive.

At THIS point, Sunday 7/10/26 is a 25% chance at 9:00 a.m., so
Pack Walk at Harmony Lake behind the Hillsboro YMCA.

Update: as of 6:46 p.m. Friday, Saturday is not looking promising. 🌧 Most likely will reschedule to Sunday.

Tentative Pack Walk Saturday 7/11/26, 9 a.m., at Harmony Lake behind the Hillsboro YMCA. Right now it looks like a 25% chance of rain, but it keeps changing. 🫤

No Pack Walk this weekend again, we will be at the Festival Saturday, and Sunday looks like storms again.

Saturday and Sunday both are a high chance of rain, so I'm not going to post a Pack Walk yet. If either day looks better we will do a "pop-up" Walk.

Seke after a couple hours with a proper trainer. 🥰

Found another great trainer! Seke and I worked with Alyssa today on his "heel". Yes, he knows how, but only for a few steps. I wasn't clear enough in his mind. Alyssa figured it out in about 40 seconds. We worked together, her showing me where I wasn't being clear, and, wowzers! I've got the dog I've been looking for. Hopefully I can maintain that, but Alyssa is ready for us if we need her.

When training with your dog, you are building a stronger relationship with them. That is why with my training courses I will work with your dog AND YOU! I will work with your dog and then teach you how to do the training so you can be prepared for any future unwanted behaviors that appear.

Start preparing now (if not sooner 😁) for fireworks! Teach your dog that loud noise means FUN!!! Slam your hand on the table, toss treats to the dog. Yell, cheer, drop pots on the floor, toss treats to the dog. Crank up a CD of thunderstorms, cheer, toss treats. Real thunderstorms, cheer, toss treats! Make loud, noisy stuff a game instead of sympathizing with a scared dog. It's up to you to change your dogs perceptions, and it's better than leaving them frightened.
My younger GSD female just recently decided gunshots are scary. What did I do? Every time, "YEAH!! TREATS!!!" and grabbed some chopped hotdogs. She's already deciding they're ok again.
(Yes, I know hotdogs aren't the best choice, but they certainly are high value for a quick, occasional reward)
