From a horrible puppy-mill situation, 83 golden retrievers were recently seized. I believe that most people are honest and good, but it is the one dishonest low-life that makes responsible breeders go out of their way to ensure that their dogs never end up in or contributing to a situation like this, and makes buyers rightly wary. The woman running this "breeding" operation was incredibly deceiving, lying about show histories and health clearances, and pricing puppies above their value. I have actually been to her house (apparently one of a few) to look at a puppy to buy. There were so many red flags, and I walked away. If I hadn't known better, though, those red flags may not have been so apparent. She had some nice puppies, but I could tell she lied to me, and still, I could not have guessed that she had that many dogs in such a bad situation. It really makes me sick. The dogs that were seized are now up for adoption at northutahvalleyanimalshelter.org and suvas.org
The majority are European type goldens, often referred to as "English cream". Many of them are quite nice dogs, but have been in a poor situation. They will likely make lovely family pets with a little love and training.
