Today, PawPoint became real.

The first PawPoint Pet Microchip Scanning Station was installed today at Catawba County Animal Services, beginning our first pilot location.

This station gives members of the community access to a microchip scanner so that when a lost pet is found, they have another tool to help identify that pet and hopefully get them home where they belong.

I am incredibly grateful to the anonymous sponsor who purchased this first station and believed enough in the idea to help make it happen. Your generosity took PawPoint from an idea to something that can now serve our community.

I’m equally grateful to Catawba County Animal Services for being willing to host PawPoint’s first pilot station and for supporting a new approach to helping lost pets.

And a huge thank you to the maintenance guys for taking the time to install the station today and make sure everything was securely and properly placed.

Because this is our first pilot station, community feedback will be incredibly valuable. If you use PawPoint—or even stop by to take a look—we’d love to hear about your experience. What worked well? Was anything unclear? Is there something we could improve?

Hi, I’m Melanie, founder of PawPoint Stations. PawPoint was created to provide communities with a professional, purpose-built option for public microchip scanning — one that is easy to use, clearly marked, and designed specifically for helping people take the first step toward reuniting found pets with their families.

Our first PawPoint is a pilot station at Catawba County Animal Services. The pilot will allow us to see how the station performs in a real-world setting, gather community feedback, and determine whether PawPoint can be a valuable resource for lost pets and the people who find them.
