Stevie Mae and Tate’s puppies are 2 weeks old and almost doubled in size! What a great week we have had! Puppies have almost completed their Neuro Stimulation exercises and added 3 more scents to their repertoire of sniffing experiences. They have also had more socialization with 6 more people, men, women, and teenagers! All this good touch, new smells and cuddles help pups be resilient to new experiences, people, and sounds! Yes, their ears are opening and they’ve begun vocalizing; purring, growling, and even had little yelps. They are moving around well in their pen; using their muscles to practice standing, some rocking, and lots of rolling. (Stay tuned for future video of this!) Eyes are beginning to open and Purple girl was the first to show hers this morning in their 2 week photos. This next week we’ll be playing our recordings of Noises pups will encounter in the world; especially ones that can sometimes startle or frightened dogs if they don’t learn to associate them as normal sounds, and learn about them slowly, and quietly at first. In this way, we can create a positive association with noise which helps prepare them to be well adjusted dogs. As we keep the decibels low at first, they have a chance to hear trains, planes and automobiles, children’s playground yelling and laughter, thunderstorms, dogs barking and goats bleating, babies crying, and even and even an orchestra tuning in a park!
And Mama Stevie Mae, well, she’s a rockstar! She’s nursing these puppies so well and is a calm influence on their new experiences. 😍
Stay tuned for more photos and videos this week at Cottonwood, and watch them grow!😃
