We diagnosed a case of Parvoviral Enteritis in a dog last week. It's not very common in this area and is often fatal, even with aggressive in-hospital treatment.
It's one of the diseases we routinely vaccinate at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks. I recommend you not take un-vaccinated puppies into the community where they are more likely to be exposed.
The virus can live in a long time in the environment so a puppy can be exposed if a leaf contaminated with the virus blows in the yard or the pet owner can bring it on their feet.
Symptoms of Parvo can be, vomiting, bloody diarrhea and not eating.
