Team Nova rocked this container search!

They had 5 distractors - cheese, white rice, hamburger, cheese curls, and a toy - and 3 odor hides.

Recently, Frontier Holly GoLightly made history by becoming the first Chinook to earn an ELT2 K9 Nose Work Title!

If you know me and my history with this sport, you’ll know K9NW is about so much more than ribbons and titles to me, but some milestones are worth celebrating!

It's here! Our Intro to K9 Nose Work Series begins October 12th!

Wondering what makes K9 Nose Work® different from general scent work classes?

It comes down to the foundation! Our program uses trademarked methods straight from the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW)—the creators of the sport. Guided by a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI), your dog gets the real deal: authentic detection-style training tailored to their unique pace and personality.

I learn most of my life lessons first through dog training and then try to extrapolate them out to my life as a whole.

I have audited many more seminars than those I have ever put in for a working spot and I am always thinking of what lessons will work well for my students, not what I should be prepping for my own dogs.

Working with Holly and her demand that I be present with her has really changed this perspective for me.

This weekend, I had an opportunity to work with Holly in a nose work seminar with the wonderful Sue Frisch and I realized how much the experience filled me up. It allowed me to work with my best friend, as a team, doing something we both truly enjoy. And I came back eager for more. This is also the way I have come out of our recent trials - maybe most especially those trials where I knew our teamwork and problem solving could improve. Excited to get out there and try again!

K9 Nose Work has brought me so much professionally - giving my career as a trainer balance from the behavior and aggression cases. But it has also given me just as much personally. Community, dedicated time with each of my dogs, and new ways to expand my thinking.

I am thankful for each person and each dog who has been a part that teaching and learning experience with me - most notably Elsa, Burt, and Holly.
