Did you know some spiders dismantle and eat their entire home before breakfast?
Part 3 of our Orb Weaver Creature Feature uncovers the fascinating division between night shift craftspeople and day shift strategists! While nocturnal weavers build stealth traps in complete darkness and recycle up to ninety percent of their silk by dawn, daytime species bask in the sun and weave brilliant, zigzagging silk decorations to catch passing pollinators.
Head over to the blog to explore these daily shift tactics and discover how both strategies keep our local habitats balanced! Don't forget to tap the audio play button at the top of the post if you'd rather listen while you work!

Step outside into the yard at noon, and you might see an orb weaver hanging quietly in the dead center of its web. Step out at midnight with a flashlight, and you might catch that very same spider …

Ever wonder how a spider thread finer than a human hair can snap a flying beetle out of mid-air without breaking?
Part 2 of our Orb Weaver Creature Feature dives deep into the wild bio-materials studio operating right inside your flower beds! These eight-legged scientists carry an arsenal of up to seven distinct silk glands, producing everything from steel-tough structural draglines to super-stretchy, glue-coated trap coils.
Pop over to the blog to learn the secrets of arachnid silk engineering and discover the clever anatomical trick that keeps orb weavers from ever getting stuck in their own webs! Be sure to click the audio play button on the post to listen on the go!

When you watch an Orb Weaver work, it looks like magic—a creature producing miles of delicate, shimmering line out of thin air. In reality, it is a masterclass in bio-materials. Spiders do not manu…

We want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful community member who generously lent us their freezer space for the past three months. Community Alert: Hanger Search!
We are gearing up for our upcoming garage sale and could use a little help with setup! We are looking to borrow plastic or metal clothes hangers to display items neatly. If you have any extra hangers taking up space in your closets that you can spare for the weekend, we would be incredibly grateful to borrow them.

What Happens to Extra Hangers:
To keep things completely clear, we are primarily looking to borrow these for the sale. However, if you would prefer to hand them off as a permanent donation, rest assured they will go to good use! Any hangers donated directly to us will be passed along to Hastings Family Services alongside all of our leftover garage sale items once the sale wraps up.

How to Drop Off:
If you have a bundle of hangers you can lend or pass along, please drop a comment below or send a quick message to coordinate a drop-off or pickup time. Thank you so much for helping us get organized and supporting our community partners!
