Rio Show Dogs Follow us for updates & behind-the-scenes @ Rio Show Dogs! At Rio Show Dogs, our journey with Dobermans began in 1986 and has evolved into a family passion.

While Dobermans are our focus, we’ve also had success with other breeds, including our Boston Terrier, BISS GCH Motif's Unstoppable at Rio ("Denzel"), who won Best of Breed at Westminster in 2014. With our daughters, Amy and Kayla, joining the adventure, we’ve proudly showcased champion dogs across various breeds. Notably, our Boston Terrier achieved Best of Breed at Westminster in 2014—a memory w

e cherish deeply. While Doberman Pinschers remain the heart of our breeding and showcasing efforts, our past show dogs have included Standard Poodles, Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs, an Afghan Hound, and a Japanese Chin. Most recently, we’ve added two outstanding "Hallmark Jolei Shih Tzus," Bosley and Keith, to our show roster. We’re also thrilled to welcome Lauren Petersen to the Rio Family. Lauren joined us in 2012 after graduating from Rio Grooming School & Salon and has become an exceptional owner-handler in the show ring. In 2021, she co-bred her first Doberman litter with us. Now based in South Dakota, where she runs a successful grooming business, Lauren continues to be an invaluable partner in breeding and showcasing our Rio Doberman lines. Our dedication to excellence and collaboration drives us as we continue to honor our legacy while building the future of Rio Show Dogs.

At the Plum Creek Kennel Club of Colorado on June 14, 2026, under Judge Mary C. Murphy-East, Rio’s Legendary Breath of the Wild “Zora” earned Winners Bitch from the 12–18 Month class.

A sincere thank you to Judge Mary C. Murphy-East for recognizing Zora.

Congratulations to her new handler, Sarah Luther, who did a beautiful job presenting her. We’re excited to see this new team together and appreciate Sarah’s professionalism and care with our girl.

Zora was bred by Lauren Petersen and Karen Beskau and is proudly owned by Lauren Petersen, Karen Beskau, and Parker Petersen. A special congratulations to Lauren, who has invested so much time, love, and dedication into this young girl.

Zora is sired by GCHS CH Macaco’s Phillmar Deon V Notori CGC TKN, and we’d also like to thank Deon’s owners for being part of the pedigree behind this promising young Doberman.

We love celebrating our owners when they go the extra mile to spend additional weekends out showing, training, and making memories with their dogs.

Zora earned Winners Bitch at the Torrington, Wyoming dog show, picking up another point toward her AKC Championship.

A fun couple of days for CH Rio’s Illuminate the West “Luma” in Torrington, WY!

Yesterday she was awarded Select - toward her Grand Championship, and today she added a little something extra—earning her Fetch Title

We’re so proud of this girl and all the different ways she continues to shine.

Louisville, Kentucky Show Weekend Update

We are very proud to share a successful weekend for our girl, CH Rio’s Legendary Rhiannon “Stevie Nicks.”

At the Louisville shows, Stevie earned Best of Opposite S*x under Breeder Judge Sandy Gelinas and a Select under Breeder/Judge Alicia Brotherhood at the Specialty. We are sincerely grateful to both judges for recognizing her—this is truly an honor.

A heartfelt thank you to our handler, Taylor Schwartz, for her excellent presentation of Stevie and for the care and professionalism she consistently provides.
