UPDATE: he had found a wonderful home. Thank you for those who shared.
Good Morning.
We are posting a fundraiser to bring home a very special mustang. He is not famous nor well documented, but he is special in his own way. We have the chance to buy him from his current owner and reunite him with one of our long term resident, Comanche.
So allow us to introduce the mustang we are working towards bringing to the sanctuary to be as a long term resident and an ambassador for the Sanctuary and for mustangs.
This is R***r; formerly named Mop by the elderly gentleman who adopted him originally. And this is R***r's story:
In 2019 a 75 year old gentleman, who had only ever owned high dollar Quarter Horses, saw R***r for the first time. R***r was a scrawny little thing that looked like someone threw a rope mop on his head earning him the fond name of Mop by the Elderly Gentleman. The man saw talent in the little 3yr old mustang, he was bold, curious and could work other other horses in the pen like a well bred cow horse. And so the Elderly gentleman adopted R***r (Mop). At the age of 75 he gentled in a freshly gather mustang.
The gentleman's wife surprised him with a buckskin Mustang that was 10yrs old, who he named Comanche.
Mop and Comanche bonded forming their own little herd with two other geldings and some mares. They were always together. When the elderly gentleman passed away, leaving behind his ranch and his two beloved mustangs. His family made a hard decision. They sent Comanche, who was 13yrs old, to our sanctuary and decided to rehome R***r to a family who was to be a forever home. Sadly R***r was sold last year to a horse trader, R***r's current owner bought him from the trader.
His current owner is having to rehome R***r and has given the family the opportunity to buy him. The family has talked to them about having us, the sanctuary, buy him instead as we have his buddy Comanche here and he would make an amazing ambassador for our program.
The family has volunteered a lot of their time to working with us and the horses here, and this is the least we could do for them. So let's bring R***r home.
Our goal is $800
R***r is $600
Gas to make the trip out to get him will be $200
If you would like to donate to help a cause we have about two weeks to make our goal.
