Let’s take a closer look at the muscles behind your horse’s movement. What they do, why they get tight, and how cupping may help. We're continuing with muscles in the neck.

𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴?
Equine cupping, also called myofascial decompression, uses suction to gently lift the skin and underlying tissues. This creates a lifting effect on the fascia and soft tissues, which can help increase local blood flow, support lymphatic drainage, and improve the movement of tissues that feel tight or restricted.

The 𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙘 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙯𝙞𝙪𝙨 muscle is part of the horse's thoracic sling. It helps to elevate the shoulder and aids in the backward swing of the front leg during movement. Tension in this muscle is commonly caused by:

▪️Lack of core engagement or a "hollow" back
▪️Compensation from lameness in a forelimb
▪️Unbalanced rider, including a crooked seat or leaning
▪️Poor saddle fit

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸?
Your horse may exhibit one or more of these signs:

▪️Trouble bending side to side, which can also look like one side is harder to bend than the other
▪️Bracing against you in the contact
▪️Sensitive to mane pulling
▪️Overdeveloped on the underside of the neck (aka swan neck)
▪️Pain at the base of the neck

If this sounds like your horse, it may be time to give this area some extra attention. Give us a call or send us a message, and let's talk about how cupping may be a helpful addition to their wellness routine.

One year ago, Khateri Equine Wellness was an idea.

An idea that horse owners should have access to wellness modalities that support their horses 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 something becomes a problem. That proactive care could be a routine part of a horse’s care - affordable, accessible, and obtainable.

Today, that idea is a real business, with real clients, real horses, and a mission that continues to grow. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who trusted me, supported me, and helped turn an idea into something real.

Year one was about building the foundation. I’m excited for what year two brings!

Here’s to helping more horses, learning more, making more connections, and continuing to build something I truly believe in. Thank you for being part of the journey!

Let’s take a closer look at the muscles behind your horse’s movement. What they do, why they get tight, and how cupping may help. We're going to start at the neck and work our way towards the tail.

It's a barn wellness day! We spent the day with Erica Worek and 6 of her horses/boarders.

From stiff necks to tight glutes, and heaves to potential kissing spine we used equine cupping on all 6 horses to help relieve tension, encourage release, and provide some comfort. Everyone seemed to love it and we’re excited to see how this small piece of the puzzle helps each one of them. Thank you Erica and owners for trusting Khateri Equine Wellness, LLC with your horses!

Today we had the pleasure of working with Cruemmel 3 (or Crue) of Trinity Creek Farms. This tall, dark, and handsome fellow is a talented Grand Prix horse that's been competing at Princeton Show Jumping for the past 2 weeks. But even the most talented athletes get sore. We used shockwave to help with tension in his neck and hind end.

Crue very quickly relaxed into it with some noticeable changes by the end of the session. Thank you Trinity for trusting your boy with Khateri Equine Wellness, LLC!

One of my favorite parts of being at the NBHA NJ01 barrel race today was finally getting to meet Lindsey with Elevate PEMF.

I already knew we’d both be at the NJ IBRA & NPBA SuperShow on August 30, but today gave us the opportunity to connect in person, talk shop, and watch each other work.

Lindsey gave my horse a MagnaWave session, and watching his response throughout the session gave me another perspective on where he was holding tension and how his body was responding.

That’s one of the things I love about having different modalities in the toolbox. PEMF, cupping, and shockwave don’t have to be competing approaches — they can complement each other.

Seeing how a horse responds to one modality can give me additional information to consider when deciding whether cupping or shockwave may be appropriate as part of his wellness routine.

It’s also a great reminder that collaboration between practitioners benefits everyone — especially the horse.

Different modalities. Different approaches. One goal: supporting the horse as a whole.

I’m excited to continue that conversation — and see Lindsey again — at the IBRA SuperShow on August 30 at Rockin J Ranch! We'll both be offering our services on-site so reach out today if you would like us to work together and have a similar conversation about your horse!
