Jo (name pending) turned a week old at 2am, she came quietly and without much drama. Which if you’ve ever rode with or been around her momma is not the typical MO of this mare. We have high hopes for Miss Joe, and she has big shoes to fill. Satara taught me how to ride competitively on a horse with particulars and opinions, and we hope Joe show the same eagerness to go in a few years.

We had an awesome day at JB memorial, Jezeriah and I started with a plan to just see how she would cruise through the ride and she did wonderful.
All A’s all day, stayed right there with the second place group, and had the best pulse downs. 6/22 isn’t what we normally place but with the winter off and this being a test run I’m not dissatisfied at all.

Big day for Sweets today! Her first haul away trail, her first solo trail, and her first time on an actual trail that isn’t 1/2 a mile from the house! Nothing builds more confidence than when they only have you and themselves to rely on. She was a superstar all day and only did one “dirty” spook in the whole 9 miles.

Everyone was enjoying the morning sun, during this cold snap. Especially old lady Famous, who I was surprised to see flat out cold. She’s 26/27 this year and normally winters are hard on her bones. This year since starting her magnawave and 6 month injections she seems like she ages backwards.

I haven’t got to brag on Kim’s mare in a minute, Sweets has been one a kind in so many ways. She made me work for every step forward we made, and humbled me just as much. After two weeks off of riding she stepped out into the big field in nothing but a rope halter and never placed a foot wrong. I’m excited to see what these next few months hold for her.
