Tuxedo cats aren't a specific breed—the name simply describes their distinctive black-and-white coat pattern. You can find tuxedo coloring in many different breeds and mixed-breed cats.

A few fun tuxedo cat facts:

🎩 Their coat pattern can vary widely, from classic black bodies with white chests and paws to unique markings on the face, belly, and tail.

🐾 Tuxedo cats can be male or female.

🧬 Their coloring comes from the way pigment-producing cells develop before birth.

Today we're giving a big THANK YOU to the people who keep those tails wagging and paws moving while their families are away! ❤️

Dog walkers do much more than take dogs outside for a bathroom break. A good walk provides:

🐾 **Physical exercise** to help maintain a healthy weight and strong muscles
👃 **Mental enrichment** through all those very important smells
🧠 **Stimulation** that can help reduce boredom and unwanted behaviors
☀️ **Fresh air and a change of scenery**
❤️ **Companionship and attention** when their people can't be home

For puppies and high-energy dogs, a midday walk can be a lifesaver. And for senior dogs, shorter, slower walks can help keep aging joints moving while still allowing them to enjoy one of their favorite activities.

Today we celebrate the hard work and dedication of workers everywhere—and hopefully enjoy a little extra time with the people and pets we love. ❤️

As you enjoy the long weekend, don't forget a few pet-safety reminders:

🌭 Keep fatty foods, bones, corn cobs, onions, grapes/raisins, chocolate, and alcohol away from curious noses.

🔥 Keep pets safely away from grills, hot surfaces, and open flames.

☀️ September can still be **HOT in Georgia!** Provide plenty of fresh water and shade, limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, and never leave a pet unattended in a vehicle.

🏷️ If you're traveling or having guests over, double-check that collars, ID tags, and microchip information are current.

🤍🐱 **September 5th is National White Cat Day!** 🐱🤍

Today we're celebrating the beautiful snowballs, marshmallows, and tiny house lions dressed entirely in white!

White cats are certainly gorgeous, but there's also some fascinating science hiding underneath that snowy coat.

🤍 **A few fun facts about white cats:**

👀 White cats can have **blue, green, gold, copper, or even two different-colored eyes**—a beautiful trait called heterochromia.

👂 Some white cats, particularly those with blue eyes, have a **higher likelihood of congenital deafness.** That doesn't mean every blue-eyed white cat is deaf, though!

☀️ Their light-colored skin can also make them **more susceptible to sun damage**, especially around sparsely haired areas like the ears and nose. Keeping sun-loving white kitties protected is important.

🐱 White isn't a breed! Many different breeds—and plenty of wonderful mixed-breed cats—can have an all-white coat.

And just like cats of every color, each one comes with their own personality. Some are dignified little royalty...and others are currently knocking something off the counter while maintaining direct eye contact. 😂

This month, we recognize some truly extraordinary dogs—and the incredible partnerships they share with the people who depend on them. ❤️

Service dogs are specially trained to perform tasks that help people with disabilities live more safely and independently. Depending on their handler's needs, they may be trained to:

🦮 Guide someone who is blind or visually impaired
👂 Alert someone who is deaf or hard of hearing
🩺 Respond to certain medical events
🐕‍🦺 Assist with mobility and everyday tasks
❤️‍🩹 Provide specific assistance related to psychiatric disabilities
🚨 Retrieve help or important items during an emergency

These dogs aren't just wonderful companions—they are **working dogs performing an important job.**

One of the best ways we can show our appreciation is by respecting their work. If you see a service dog in public, avoid petting, calling to, feeding, or otherwise distracting them without their handler's permission.
