Poppy's Heart Surgery Update ❤️‍🩹

Poppy is doing very well post-op. Some of you may remember Poppy from earlier this year. She came to us with a grade 4 Heart Murmur. After her echocardiogram we found out that the type of heart murmur she had was a PDA. This is both a blessing and a curse.

PDA's are one of the few heart murmurs that are a candidate for surgery, this means there is a chance they can be fixed. With every surgery especially a major one involving the heart there is always the chance that surgery may not be successful. Thankfully in Poppy case everything went as smoothly as possible 🥹.

She's going to head back to foster tonight to begin her recovery. The next step for Poppy is healing to the point of being able to be spayed. Poppy's friend Lilly (also a mini Aussiepoo) is up next for PDA Surgery. We also have a golden retriever in foster awaiting her echo to find out the cause of her heart murmur.

Heart Surgery and the testing required to diagnose them is not cheap but it's the only way to give these kids the quality of life they deserve. 🐾 This Week's New Faces 🐾

We want to start off by saying how incredibly grateful we are to Humane Fort Wayne. They are taking the bulk of this week's new kids. Not only that, but they will also be assisting us at location next week alongside D's Dogs as another breeder has decided to get out of breeding.

Next week is already looking like it's going to be quite a busy one, we are going to NEED new fosters‼️

Because we take in new kids nearly every week we are always on the 👀 out for new fosters. The kiddos need a safe and loving space to crash as they await their spay/neuter appointments. On average, kids are in foster 30-45 days and sometimes kids do need to shift fosters due to life circumstances. If you are interested in becoming a foster for a future JAR kid or if you'd like to be a backup foster please feel free to DM us ❤️

How Does Fostering Work❓

You supply the love, we supply the medical care. Essentially you'd be giving one of these kids a safe place to hangout while they wait to complete their vetting & new 🏠

FOSTERS ARE ALWAYS FIRST IN LINE TO ADOPT!

Requirement ℹ️

* While we do adopt to all over the US & parts of Canada, FOSTERS must live within/close to 60 minutes from Grover Hill, Ohio 📍

* All animals already established in the 🏠 must be UTD on medical in order to foster

* Animals in foster must be housed indoors

I know it's probably getting redundant but social media really is the ONLY way our kiddo's find their forever families. The more people who share this post the more likely the kids are to be adopted.

🐾 Only TWO new kids 🐾

This week didn't go the way we planned so ultimately we're going to be pretty overloaded with intakes next week but that's a bridge we'll cross when we get there. In the meantime, these two cuties have joined us 🥰

Things look a bit different this week. Normally we send kids to foster after they arrive but these two came at just the right time. We had two surgery spots come available on Friday so they are going to fill those two spur of the moment openings. In preparation for surgery they are currently headed to be groomed. We are excited to see how they look afterwards! It'll be nice to be able to see their sweet faces.

Because of this, these kiddos are able to start accepting adoption applications at this time. Neither one can leave until after they have completed their vetting, BUT they will be able to go to their new 🏠 this weekend/early into next week ❤️

What we know about them so far:

They have both been around children and other k9s and have done well with them. Both of these kids are a little timid (who wouldn't be after such a big change) but they are incredibly sweet. Both of them have been wagging their tails nonstop since they arrived and it's easy to see just how nice their dispositions are. Their names and brief description of them will be under their photos. Please use their names when applying and not their intake number.

Days like these are rough 😔

Sadly when it's really hot and humid and then we get hit with torrential rain, it really puts a damper on us. We can't have the kids out in the muggy heat long and when it's raining as hard as it is right now the kids can't go out to play.

On days like this we go through a LOT of treats and chews to keep the kids content and their minds busy. Since the weather has not been in our favor the last few weeks our treat bins are running a really low, the kids would really appreciate it if we could get a few supplies.

18 New Kids ‼️

What was supposed to be a "lighter" week turned into a lot of kids very quickly. Thankfully Loyal K9 Rescue and Humane Fort Wayne have stepped up and offered to take some of these kiddos in.

Who's going where?:
The family of Aussiedoodles, the two poms, the Bichon and one of the bulldog are heading to Humane Fort Wayne. The super friendly Shihtzu and the male poodle are heading to Loyal K9.

The remaining kids are staying within JAR-Justice Animal Rescue. To make things easy we will mark who is 👀 for a foster and who is still in need of one.

Boo Update 👻:

I know a lot of you are wondering where the visually and hearing impaired little baby Daschound is going....

The short answer is she's not going anywhere. This poor girl has pretty bad eye sight (it's getting progressively worse) and she is deaf. Even though she has her struggles Boo has settled in like she has always been here. I feel like I have to be completely honest, I've grown equally as attached to her as she has me. What's surprising is her sister Baby Blake has even taken a strong liking to her.

So now Boo is going to join the rest of the Double Merle (dapple) Girls that are here with us. If you know us at all you know we have a soft spot for the hearing and vision impaired kids. Tomorrow Boo will be spayed and we can make it official ❤️
