Dog Squad Dog Squad is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit shelter-less foster-based dog rescue organization dedicated to giving dogs a second chance.

We are located in Greenville, SC. Dog Squad is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit shelter-less animal rescue organization established in 2022. We rescue many of our dogs from euthanasia at overcrowded shelters. We also take in sick, injured, abused, and abandoned stray dogs who may not have been given a second chance otherwise. We work with dogs of all breeds, all ages, all sizes, and all medical issues. Dog Squad focuses on rehabilitating these dogs by providing them with proper veterinary care, unconditional love, basic training, and socialization as fosters until they are ready to be adopted into their furever home. Each rescue dog is fully vetted prior to adoption, which includes spay/neuter, microchipping, and vaccinations. Dog Squad is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, charitable corporation operating in Greenville, South Carolina. It is not funded by any governmental agencies. Dog Squad relies solely on donations from our supporters. Our IRS federal Tax ID is 87-3968693. WE ARE MORE THAN JUST A RESCUE. The majority of the dogs we rescue have significant and/or complex medical needs which are often costly with treatments ranging from $100s to $1,000s. People often avoid fostering homeless pets due to the related costs, and some shelters and rescue organizations do not have the funds necessary to treat the dogs’ complex medical needs. Unfortunately, those dogs miss their opportunity at receiving a second chance. Dog Squad bridges the gap by supporting other local and national rescue organizations, as well as other foster families, by providing them with the funds needed for the medical treatment of their injured and/or sick rescue dogs.

What happens when a dog suffers through years of untreated ear infections?

This.

Meet Bean Burrito. 🌯 Our newest Squad foster, who at just three years old, is facing a surgery that will permanently change his life.

Bean Burrito has severely inflamed, infected masses inside his ear canals. We suspect the damage has already cost him his hearing.

And the heartbreaking part? This didn’t happen overnight.

This is what happens when chronic ear infections go untreated. What may have started as something manageable has progressed to the point that Bean Burrito now needs surgery to remove his ear canal structures entirely.

Next Thursday, October 22, Bean Burrito will return to Fetch Greenville for a CT scan in preparation for surgery.

But here’s what really gets us.

Despite everything going on inside those poor ears, Bean Burrito is an absolute sweetheart.

He LOVES people. He gets excited to meet strangers. Even veterinarians, who are usually not high on a dog’s list of favorite humans. 😂

And last night, despite the pain and inflammation, he allowed the vet to clean out his ears without anesthesia.

Just think about how uncomfortable those ears must be. And yet, this little guy still trusts people enough to let them help him.

Dogs are something else, y’all.

We can’t undo the years Bean Burrito spent living like this. We can’t give him back the time he spent hurting.

But we can make damn sure the rest of his life looks nothing like the first three years.

We cannot wait to see what this sweet boy is like when he finally knows what it feels like to live without that constant pain.

Of course, getting him there won’t be cheap. His CT scan and upcoming surgery will be expensive, and we’ll share the estimate as soon as we receive it.

For now, we’re asking our Squad to help us cover his initial veterinary care. Last night’s bill: $459.12.

Every donation helps us get Bean Burrito one step closer to the life he deserves.

Meet Casper, the sweetest little ghost you’ll ever meet. 👻

Casper is one of the three Great Pyrenees puppies who joined Dog Squad over the weekend, and y’all, this little boy is already stealing our hearts.

At approximately 3 months old, Casper is still trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

Humans? A little scary at first.

Other dogs? Now we’re talking.

He’s already making friends with the Squad mentors, but he seems to have taken a special liking to foster Stanley. And honestly, we can’t blame him. Stanley is pretty irresistible.

Casper is still timid around people, but just 40 hours after being rescued, we’re already seeing glimpses of his little personality. He’s curious. He’s watching. He’s slowly realizing that maybe these strange humans aren’t so bad after all.

And that’s the part of rescue we love so much. Watching a dog realize he doesn’t have to be afraid of everything anymore. 🥹

On a less emotional note, Casper is also beginning to enter the infamous Great Pyrenees helmet head stage. 😂

It’s not quite as impressive as Stanley’s, but let’s be real — we have NEVER met a dog with a helmet head as powerful as Stanley’s. That boy has an entire architectural structure sitting on top of his skull.

Casper has some catching up to do. 😂

For now, we’re just letting this sweet boy settle in, make friends, and figure out what life as a Squad foster is all about.

Casper and his two brothers are not yet available for adoption. They will need to complete their initial veterinary care and get up to date on vaccinations before they’re ready for their forever homes.

However, if you’ve already fallen in love with this little ghost, you can get a head start by submitting an adoption application at www.dogsquadsc.org/adopt

Welcome to the Squad, Casper. You’ve only been here 40 hours, but something tells us you’re going to fit right in. 🤍

Squad fosters Maddie and Maizie — also known as the meatballs — came to Dog Squad after their owner passed away.

Their extended family had one request for us: Please keep the girls together.

So that is exactly what we are doing.

Now, these two are looking for another home. Together.

But if you are looking for two dogs who want to summit mountains with you every weekend, these are not your girls.

If you are looking for jogging partners, they would probably file a complaint.

Maddie and Maizie want the finer things in life:
A couch. A soft blanket. A family nearby.

And absolutely no unnecessary cardio.

They are affectionate, social, funny, and incredibly easy to love.

Both girls are wonderful with humans and dogs of all ages, and they absolutely adore the young children in their foster home.

Meet RJ!

At just four months old, RJ is still learning the ropes of being a dog. But one thing he’s already mastered? Being a Great Pyrenees. 😂

RJ is dog friendly, kid friendly, and full of personality. He’s spunky, stubbornly independent, and has absolutely no problem letting you know when he disagrees with your plans.

He has opinions.

He has selective hearing.

And he’s pretty convinced he’s qualified to make all of his own decisions.

But underneath all that Pyr attitude is an incredibly smart, affectionate little guy who is learning and growing every single day.

RJ is the kind of puppy who will make you laugh, test your patience, steal your heart, and then completely ignore you when you ask him to come inside. Because, well… he’s a Great Pyrenees. 🤷‍♀️

And that’s exactly why we’re looking for a family who understands the breed.

Great Pyrenees aren’t just oversized, fluffy golden retrievers. They’re livestock guardian dogs who were bred to think independently, make their own decisions, and occasionally question your authority. And trust us, that personality starts LONG before they reach 100+ pounds.

RJ doesn’t need a family who expects blind obedience. He needs one who appreciates his intelligence, understands his independence, and is willing to put in the time, patience, and consistency to help him grow into the incredible dog we know he can be.

If you love a dog with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and a healthy disregard for your suggestions, RJ might just be your guy.

Apply to adopt RJ: www.dogsquadsc.org/adopt

Adoption requirements:
* Great Pyrenees or similar livestock guardian dog breed experience required.
* Fully fenced yard with fencing at least 5 feet tall required.
