Ernie had a busy day that consisted of his final dental procedure to finish up the other half of his mouth, and had a small mass removed. His teeth were so bad that it took two sessions 😕
Ernie is just so sweet and lovable ❤️ He should be feeling better in no time without those rotten teeth. Now it’s off to the weekend of healing for Ernie!

Toad man had a trip to the vet late last evening for some diarrhea and some concern with a bleeding mass. Toad is our palliative care pup that has cancer but is living his best life. He got cleaned up and is healing back at home. Toad hit the jackpot of foster homes, so he’s right where he wants to be ❤️

Help Needed!

Daisy girl has been to the vet a few times recently just trying to figure out what’s going on and what the best options are for her.
She is going back tomorrow to be tested for Cushing’s Disease. This test runs about $400. We’ve spent a small fortune already with X-rays, an ultrasound, and bloodwork. Any amount of help would be appreciated ❤️
Daisy remains so very sweet and she’s just a wonderful potato girl 😊 Our goal is always comfort but in some scenarios, we can’t do that without knowing a root cause. Once we can get results from this test tomorrow, a plan will be made as to what our next steps are.

Today is the anniversary of the moment when all of the regular excuses ended and resolution was put into place.
So often we hear the seemingly innocent statements…..”If I had money I would help, I hope someone steps up, I wish I was closer, I have too many other dogs, I’m too busy, I could never foster and let them go, I’ve lost too many in the past, ect, ect.” Again, all of these are understandable to a point. But none of them are helpful.
I was guilty of this myself. I took the time to volunteer at a local shelter and would say “I hope someone helps that dog.” And then I realized that I AM SOMEONE.
This is the day 6 years ago when I lost Taffy and the wheels started spinning more than ever. The decision was made to stop wishing for help and stop counting on someone else to do it. Change doesn’t happen unless those excuses are recognized for what they are and we decide to move instead of wait.
I’ll be real….I still don’t have money, I’m very busy, I’ve had so much loss, there are many dogs in my home, and I’m tired. The easy route would be to say those words out loud and then let it be enough. Fostering Taffy and then losing her was the pivotal moment of this rescue. The pain and the stress and the heartache all turned into something positive. So if you’re waiting on the right time to act, just know that we’ll be here when you’re ready ❤️

Yesterday, we said goodbye to sweet little Daisy.

Daisy came to us after her elderly mom was hospitalized and sadly was unable to return home. During such a difficult transition, Daisy found exactly what she needed—a loving foster home where she was cherished, comforted, and surrounded by kindness.

Her foster mom is one of our incredible hospice fosters, the kind of person who continually opens her heart and home to senior dogs who simply need a soft place to land and be loved for whatever time they have left. It takes a truly special person to walk alongside these dogs during their final chapter, offering them dignity, comfort, and unconditional love.

While fostering hospice dogs is an incredible gift, it also comes with tremendous heartache. The losses add up, and each goodbye leaves a mark. We ask that you keep Daisy’s foster mom in your thoughts and prayers as she mourns another beloved soul.

Daisy may have only been with us for a chapter of her life, but she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten. Her little paw prints remain on the hearts of everyone who knew her.
