Horse show recovery mode: activated ✨

Between travel, schooling, showing, and all the excitement that comes with being away from home, recovery matters just as much as preparation.

BEMER uses a low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) signal designed to support circulation (and microcirculation). For our equine athletes, it can be a great addition to a recovery routine—helping support healthy blood flow (especially to tired muscles!), relaxation, and overall wellness after demanding days of work.

Because sometimes the best thing we can do after asking our horses to perform is give their bodies a little extra support in return. 🤍

💦 Let’s talk sweating! 💦

With these HOT summer temperatures, all this sweating keeps us cool… but what happens when your horse can’t? 🥵

🌞 Anhidrosis is the inability to sweat normally, making it difficult for horses to regulate their body temperature. Instead of sweating, you might notice:
• Increased respiratory rate after exercise
• Delayed recovery
• Poor performance
• Overheating
• A dry hair coat despite the heat

While the exact cause isn’t fully understood, anhidrosis is especially common in horses living in hot, humid climates.

Traditional management often includes:
🍺 Dark b**r (yes, really!)
🌿 Commercial anhidrosis supplements
❄️ Careful management with shade, fans, hosing, and limiting exercise during the hottest parts of the day

These strategies can be very helpful, but some horses continue to struggle.

🪡 Acupuncture may be a valuable addition to the treatment plan. Many horses with anhidrosis show improvement in their ability to sweat, recover after exercise, and tolerate the summer heat when acupuncture is incorporated alongside good management practices. It offers a safe, low-risk option that may help improve comfort and quality of life during these hot summer months.

If your horse is struggling in the heat, please send me a message! I’d be happy to discuss whether acupuncture may be a good fit.

☀️ Stay cool, stay hydrated keep an eye on your horses this summer.

✨ Did you know that Traditional Chinese Medicine recognizes five constitutional personality types in horses?

Just like people, horses have natural strengths, sensitivities, and behavioral tendencies. Understanding your horse’s constitution can provide insight into how they learn, respond to stress, and what health challenges they may be predisposed to. In TCVM, constitutional type can also help guide treatment decisions, allowing care to be tailored to the individual horse.

🌿 WOOD – The Natural Alpha
Confident, competitive, bold, and athletic. Wood horses are natural leaders but can become frustrated or reactive when out of balance. Often associated with tendon and ligament issues.

🔥 FIRE – The Extrovert
Playful, affectionate, expressive, and highly sensitive. Fire horses love attention but may become anxious, overexcited, or hyperactive when imbalanced. Associated with the heart.

🌎 EARTH – The Calm & Steady Partner
Reliable, grounded, nurturing, and food-motivated. Earth horses are often everyone’s favorite ride but may become sluggish, stubborn, or prone to weight gain and digestive issues.

⚪ METAL – The Independent Worker
Disciplined, stoic, and methodical. Metal horses thrive on routine and consistency. Imbalances may show up as respiratory issues or dry, flaky skin and coats.

💧 WATER – The Shy & Watchful Type
Thoughtful, cautious, and observant. Water horses take time to build trust and may flee or react defensively when frightened. Often associated with lower back discomfort and joint weakness.

✨ Most horses are a blend of multiple constitutions, but one or two types usually stand out.

Which element sounds most like your horse? 👇🐴

Things have been a little quieter around here lately while life and work have been busy, but getting back into the routine has been a good reminder of why I love this work so much. Quiet moments with horses, deep breaths, soft eyes, lowered heads — the kind of peace that’s easy to forget we need too.

A good reminder to slow down, be present, and appreciate the calm moments in between the chaos. The horses are usually pretty good at teaching us that. 🤍

Recovery after injury. Spinal flexibility. Reduced muscular tension. These aren't small things — and they don't happen by accident.

BEMER Horse-Set. Supporting what matters most.
