‼️Big win for our County’s Dogs!! 🥳
On Tuesday, I (Cory Rice) went before the County Commissioners and practically begged them to adopt Beaus Law.
(Even though the state of Alabama just passed this law, individual counties do not automatically adopt the state laws🤷♀️)
Butler County accepted the law and it went into effect immediately! 🙌🏼
👉🏼What this means:
Dogs cannot be chained. They must be on a runner that is atleast 10ft. Larger breeds might still need to be on a chain bc they're strong, but it still has to be 10ft, and it can't be heavy or easily tangled.
👉🏼Proper shelter for all seasons must be in place. That means in the summer they must have shade that they can escape too, and in the winter have hay or heat lamps to keep them warm.
👉🏼They must have fresh water at all times, and look like they are being fed with no ribs showing, unless they have a verified medical issue.
👉🏼The sheriff’s department will be handling all calls! (Not us!😉) Though they must be able to see the dog from the road. If they cannot then the owner must be willing to allow them to come onto their property to see the dog. If they will not allow them, then they will have to obtain a search warrant to continue with the process.
👉🏼The first warning will be a up to $500, the second up to $1,000 and last warning up to $5,000 or jail time.
💙 I know it can be scary reporting a neighbor, but this is our first step in stopping animal cruelty and together we can save these poor innocent souls from a miserable life!
If you see something, please say something 🙏🏼
