She was just hours from injection with sodium pentobarbital, and death. 💔

And for one reason:
Policy designed to minimize effort. 💥
Rigidly maintained by director Debbie McKnight (2025 Salary $212,913 + Benefits).
And her bosses:
Jen Pokorski, the Maricopa County Manager
(2025 Salary $323,306 + Benefits).
And the 5 County Supervisors.
Who are paid just south of $100k per year.
Plus generous benefits.

Multiple qualified adopters went to director Debbie's Maricopa County Animal Care & Control, to save Sinclair.
Debbie's staff told them:
"She's not available for public adoption. There's nothing we can do."
Patently false. 💥

At least one rescue org, Hooey’s Heelers Rescue &Sanctuary, in Colorado, tried to save her.
Debbie's staff told them:
"We can't approve out-of-state rescues."
Also, patently false. 💥

You see, director Debbie, or one of her lazy supervisory lackies, limited Sinclair's availability to only in-state rescue orgs.
No adoptions allowed.
Why?
Because some rando resident (Sinclair's finder) alleged that Sinclair fought with their dogs and lunged at their cats.
And based on that second-hand, unverified, and probably exaggerated (if not altogether fabricated) information, Debbie slapped Sinclair on her Daily Kill List.
"Rescue-only"
Not adoptable to "the public".
Ultimately, it's less work for Debbie.
But pets pay with their lives.
And Debbie gives zero ducks. 💥

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of shelter staff bust their tails, every day, testing their dogs' temperaments, screening adoption applicants, and, if necessary, selecting those who don't have resident cats or dogs.
Also known simply as: doing their jobs. 💙

Not director Debbie.
Debbie embraces any excuse, including unverified stories, from any stranger, to put dogs on her Daily Kill List.
And her "rescue-only" list.
Because killing, and making her employees shoulder that burden, is easier. 💔

For Debbie, the priority is not pets.
The priority is minimum effort.
Who suffers the consequences?
Debbie's pets.
And Debbie's employees. 💔

Thankfully, Sinclair was saved, barely, by Rescue Street & her new dad, Anthony. 💙

Many doggos were not saved.
Many more will not be saved.
And Debbie will never admit it, but this is the sole reason:
It's easier to kill. 💔

Disgusted?
Tell lazy Debbie.
And definitely tell Debbie's lazy bosses.

The husband alleged he "attempted to bite" his wife & kid, but also "has no bite history".
And what do many, or even most, owners do when they surrender their dogs?
They lie.

Sometimes, they're immediately adopted.
And it helps when the right people see them.
The people who know them the best.
And love them the most.
You. ❤️

Oftentimes, they sit in their shelter kennels.
For weeks.
Months.
Even years.
Their stress hormones elevate.
They express "unwanted" behaviors.
And the adopters who don't understand them, find those behaviors off-putting.

But even when they are less stressed.
Even when they are charming.
Sometimes, they still sit, and wait.
Sometimes, staff tell the inexperienced:
"We don't recommend the heeler. S/he is probably not compatible with your family".
And while we live to see heelers go home, that should probably occur more often.
Because too many are sent to homes, where they are inevitably brought right back.

Introducing a very good boy, who, for whatever reason, hasn't won the right heart.
And chances are, it's because the right eyes haven't seen him.
