John is working through Faber Piano Adventures Level 2A, and here he’s playing “The Elf’s Silver Hammer.” 🎹

Along with his method books, we’ve been working on simple chord progressions, chord inversions, accompaniment patterns, and music theory. He’s developing a good foundation for understanding how music works—not just learning how to play the notes on the page.

John is doing a great job and making excellent progress at MelodyArts!

Juliet has been doing amazing in piano lessons! Here we're playing as a student/teacher duet: “Pop Goes the Weasel.” 🎹

She’s currently working in Faber Level 1, but she’s also learning skills beyond her lesson pieces. She can play two-octave scales with both hands, play chords, and identify major, minor, diminished, and augmented chords.

It’s been great watching her grow as a pianist!

🎸 Every great guitarist starts with the basics.

In this lesson, Liam and Mr. Michael play through some of the most important chords every beginning guitarist should know: G, C, Em, Am, Dm, Dsus, D7, A, A7, and E.

These foundational chords are the building blocks for countless songs in the keys of G and D. Once students become comfortable changing between them, they can begin reading chord charts, accompany singers, and play along with many of their favorite worship songs and popular music.

It's exciting to watch students gain the confidence to move beyond individual notes and start making real music with chords!

Watch Dalilah Shine! ✨
Dalilah is a 3rd grader who has been taking piano lessons with Mr. Michael for the past nine months. She has ASD and learning disabilities, but she approaches every new challenge with determination and celebrates each success with the biggest smile. Watching her confidence grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

So far, she's learned:
🎵 Basic five-finger scales
🎼 Scale degrees
🎹 Major and minor chords
📖 Simple songs from the Faber Piano Adventures Primer Level

Progress looks different for every student, and at MelodyArts, we believe every milestone deserves to be celebrated. We're incredibly proud of how far Dalilah has come, and we can't wait to see what she'll accomplish next!

🥁 Every drummer starts somewhere.

Keane began taking drum lessons with us last year, and he's been working hard on one of the most important skills every musician needs—a steady beat. 🎵

In this short clip, he's putting those fundamentals into practice by playing along with music using the kick drum, snare, hi-hat, and crash cymbal. It's exciting to watch students reach the point where they can stop just practicing exercises and start making music.

Whether your child or teen has never held a pair of drumsticks or is ready to build on what they already know, we'd love to help them grow.

🥁 Every great drummer starts with the basics!

In this lesson, Jacob is learning one of the most important drum rudiments: the Paradiddle. We focus on much more than just the sticking pattern—we're building a strong foundation by working on:
✅ Proper left-hand technique
✅ Correct stick grip
✅ Good posture
✅ Smooth, controlled motion
✅ The classic Paradiddle pattern (RLRR LRLL)

Developing good habits early makes learning songs, fills, and more advanced drumming so much easier later on!

🎸 Student Spotlight! 🎸

It's been a joy watching Liam grow as a guitarist over the past two years! He's worked hard and has come a long way—he can now play a wide variety of chords, follow chord charts, read simple guitar tab, and play several songs independently.

One of his latest accomplishments is learning the Tetris Theme, and I had the privilege of accompanying him for this fun performance. It's always exciting to see students reach the point where they can confidently make music with others!
