Introducing Bonnie the Bulldog! 🩷
At approximately 3 years old she is 53 pounds of pure love and sass. This mellow, laid-back girl is the epitome of affection; once you’ve earned her trust, she’ll shower you with loyalty and tenderness.
Bonnie has short bursts of energy, especially during playtime with her favorite tug toys, but she ultimately values companionship above all else. She's particularly enthusiastic about feeding time, and her joyful demeanor is sure to brighten your day! Bonnie loves car rides and would make the perfect co-pilot on your adventures. When the weather is nice, she will happily spend hours outside, exploring her surroundings, and soaking up the sunshine. In the kitchen, she shines as an excellent sous chef, always by your side, ready to keep you company while you whip up your culinary creations. Short walks and lounging in the yard are among her favorite activities, as she takes in the world around her. She’s also a diligent fly hunter—though she could use a bit of target practice!
When meeting new people, Bonnie is initially a bit wary and might express her uncertainty with a few huffs. However, she warms up quickly with a little patience and the promise of a tasty treat. Once she feels comfortable, she truly enjoys the company of others.
Bonnie would thrive with a consistent potty schedule. While she does not have accidents in her foster home, she does not alert her humans when she needs to go outside. Fully crate-trained, she finds comfort and solace in her crate.
Bonnie has great recall and understands basic commands. Currently, she is fostered with two other dogs and gets along best with submissive males. While she loves a good couch potato session, she also enjoys short walks and some playful moments.
Bonnie would do best in a home with someone who has experience with the Bulldog breed and understands the maintenance required to keep them healthy and happy. A calm, kid-free environment would suit her well.
It’s important for Bonnie’s new family to be patient and dedicated to her care. She requires regular grooming, including daily cleaning of her adorable wrinkles. Additionally, she gets eye medication twice a day for dry eye, and maintaining a healthy weight and diet is vital for her well-being.
Bonnie would thrive as part of a household with a submissive male or as the only pet. Get ready for plenty of Bulldog antics—she is sure to bring laughter and joy into your home!
Currently, Bonnie is recovering from pneumonia and will be available for adoption on a foster-to-adopt basis until she can complete her vetting. We want to give her body adequate time to heal before tackling her spay. This means that all of her care and medical needs will be covered by the rescue until her adoption is finalized. Adopters will need to utilize our vet, Parkside Animal Care Center.
If you are in the market for a loyal and affectionate companion with a sprinkle of sass, Bonnie might just be the perfect girl for you!
