Backwoods Bougie Farms Our mission is to create a community that gives back in a good way and facilitate a welcoming and homey environment.

The Permaculture Food Forest is designed to maximize all the space given with a carefully balanced mix of plants that will not only produce healthy produce, but be self sustaining and eco friendly. The Agrosilvopasture is aimed to do the same thing, but with livestock and a livestock permaculture forest. The livestock selected work well together, and the permaculture is built around maintaining th

e animals health and happiness, as well as providing them with a majority of their food through the plants chosen for their forest. The Microfarms are just that - farms that can be done in a room, and allow for exponential growth as the farm grows. The crafts we plan to produce are made by people who have dedicated their time and energy to “alternative” careers. The crafts section is also made to be expanded, based on the people we have on the farm. The combination of these things will allow Backwoods Bougie to initiate the final part of the plan, which is to offer basic necessities to disadvantaged people, which includes food, safe and well built housing, healthcare, access to electricity, internet, and clean water, as well as offering them the option to work for a livable wage if they want, or helping them pursue a new business venture. This would help so many people who are disabled, or need assistance in being human. We believe humans want to work, but not in a way that strips them of their own humanity or forced to work an inferior job just so they can have basic necessities. No one deserves to go hungry, thirsty, or lose their homes simply because they can’t afford it. The Church of the Towel is the official “religion” of BBF. It’s our official stance on our moral views and our way to connect with even more people who believe in our goal, while qualifying for tax-exempt status because to be welcomed onto the farm, we hope that you follow the basic tenement of as long as you aren’t harming another being (human, animal, or plant), you can do whatever you want. Plant and animal are included in there because our produce and livestock will be treated with dignity and respect, even during harvest, as everyone does need to eat, but it doesn’t mean you have to degrade your potential food in the process. Plants aren’t typically thought of as beings, but when we talk about respect, this means we take our plants health seriously, and don’t do unnecessary harm to them, for example unnecessary pruning, or damage to parts that aren’t meant to be damaged (the roots, the heartwood of the trees) and to grow the food in an ecofriendly and sustainable way.
