🐾❤️ Hanging out at Gigi's 2nd Annual Walkin’ The Dog event today! ❤️ 🐾

Once we get our roots a little more established with KY K-9 Collective, we’re hoping to work with Gigi’s to help us get a much-needed rescue transport vehicle!

Our old rescue vehicle recently went to the rescue vehicle cemetery after MANY miles of transporting sick and injured dogs to get the care they needed, and then getting them on their way to our rescue partners once they were healthy and ready for their next chapter.

At our busiest, we were responsibly rescuing thousands of dogs a year (and believe me, those litters of puppies add up FAST!). Every single animal in our care receives proper and appropriate veterinary care, and we only partner with rescues that hold themselves to those same standards.

There is SO much need in rural Kentucky, and transportation is a huge part of being able to help. We know what we’re capable of accomplishing because we’ve done it before. Now we’re working on building the foundation to do it again, and hopefully make an even bigger difference! 🐶

🎄 Fresh Evergreen Wreaths for a Great Cause! 🐾

There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh evergreens at Christmas! This year, we’re making beautiful, handcrafted wreaths while raising money for something our rescue desperately needs — a transport vehicle!

Kentucky Canine Collective is officially taking preorders for our Christmas wreath fundraiser!

Our wreaths will be made with fresh greenery from Herb Lloyd Tree Farm in Fleming County, Kentucky, using a mix of white pine, eastern red cedar, Perfecta juniper, Norway spruce, and American holly.

And these aren’t your typical Christmas wreaths! Each one will be made to order with a handmade bow in your choice of color schemes (red, blue, silver, gold) and a personalized mirror acrylic sign to match your holiday style (choose from 3 styles).

🌲 20” wire frame — $100

🌲 24” wire frame — $150

Keep in mind, those are the frame sizes. The finished wreaths will be larger once all that beautiful greenery is added!

Whether you’re into traditional Christmas colors, rustic farmhouse, or something a little different, we’ll work with you to make it your own.

We’re anticipating pickup November 20 or 21.

If you’d like to order, just comment here and we will reach out! We’ll go over ribbon colors, sign options, and personalization with you.

🐾 Why are we doing this? 🚐

Transport is such a huge part of rescue. Getting dogs to veterinary appointments, partner rescues, and ultimately closer to their forever homes takes reliable transportation. We’re working toward purchasing a dedicated rescue vehicle, and every wreath sold will help us get a little closer.

We’d love your support, whether that’s ordering a wreath or simply sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.

Thank you for helping us help the dogs! ❤️🐾

And seriously… who doesn’t love a house that smells like fresh Christmas trees? 🌲🎄

Photos are created with fake greenery for reference - a 24” frame fills out to about 32” (these are actual photos with the background digitally removed)

🚩 RED FLAG — GREENUP COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER! 🚩

Take a good look at the sign clearly posted INSIDE the Greenup County Animal Shelter: “DO NOT TAKE PICTURES INSIDE KENNELS.”

My question is simple: WHY?

If the animals are being properly cared for, their living conditions are acceptable, and there is nothing to hide, why discourage photographs?

Transparency should NEVER be feared, especially in a taxpayer-supported facility responsible for the lives and well-being of defenseless animals.

These animals cannot speak for themselves. They cannot tell us if they are suffering, neglected, frightened, or living in unacceptable conditions. WE MUST BE THEIR VOICE!

A veterinarian visiting the shelter is a step in the right direction, but accountability shouldn’t begin and end with one visit.

The citizens of Greenup County deserve answers, transparency, and reassurance that every animal entering that shelter is treated humanely.

We need answers, not silence. We need accountability, not secrecy. We need CHANGE, not excuses!
BE THE VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS!

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Demand transparency. Demand accountability. Demand better for the animals who depend entirely on us.

Their lives matter. Their suffering matters. And our voices matter!

Veterinarian Ursula Nance is on site at the Greenup County Animal Shelter examining our dogs as we speak. We will be posting updates as soon as we can.
