I took this picture a few years ago. Its a 10 inch deli cup. Something common to receive animals in. This is why we lean toward cloth bags in most cases instead. There was no animal left in this. Just the cup while I was vending a show. No harm done.

Just a very important reminder that everything live, from feeders to pets, needs to be transported safely. Even if the car feels cool, the sun will heat these containers and even bags, the same way it makes your arm feel hot if it's in the sun.

We do have foam boxes pretty often that you can get. Or please find other ways to protect them from the sun on the trip home.

Been seeing a number of scam posts going around in the animal community.

1. Don't give anything til you can see the animal unless you are CERTAIN they are legit.
2. Google a number, search it in Facebook. This came up locally, I searched the number and the same story, same Chicago zip showed up... Hmm...

If ever you're not sure, it's better to not, or do more research.

I've seen it come up a few times here and there- you aren't rescuing snakes if you take them from the wild unless they have a health issue and specifically need care, and even then it's usually better to get them to a rehab center. Unless you're trying to establish a captive population, there are so many captive bred animals who are already established AND do better in captivity that it's always better to get them from someone. Additionally, most homes are not set up to manage wild caught animals, especially ones that have odd diets in the wild. There are usually also lots of regulations on what you can/can't keep from local populations, especially with the effects humans have on their native habitat.

You are also not going to "save money" on an animal by getting them from the wild if you're doing it responsibly. Wc animals need special care to rid them of parasites and make sure they are healthy. Vet bills are going to be a lot more overall than just getting a captive bred animal.
