Kenai is a sweet, sweet boy who was rescued a while ago from the outdoors.

He was neutered and had a good home, but recently his owner was unable to care for him anymore.

We got his vet care up to date, and are now looking for his new forever. 🏡

Kenai likes humans, and seems ok with other cats. He does have some overstimulation issues. It's important to pay attention to his body language. There are some areas on his back and near his tail that he doesn't like to have petted. He is having sedated x-rays done to make sure nothing is wrong physically.

Medical: Because he is FIV positive (FIV+), he needs a low stress environment, quality food, exams at least yearly, and proactive veterinary care to ensure he stays healthy. These cats live comparable lives to non-FIV+ cats, and deserve a home and love all the same.

Kenai is around 4 years old. 🥳

Cinder is a playful little girl with a bit of spice! 🌶️

September 1 is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈

We’re celebrating this pet holiday by introducing you to Dragon (aka Dragonfruit). 🐉

Dragon has come such a long way! He spent his first 5 weeks with his feral mama before he and his sibling were found stuck in a woodpile. Because of that, he’s naturally a little more reserved—but this sweet boy has been coming out of his shell so much! 🥹

Dragon is the last of his siblings waiting for his forever home, and we’d love to see him find his person. 🏡🧡

He absolutely LOVES his fuzzy beds and hanging out on the cat tree in his foster home. And when it’s dinner time? You can count on Dragon to be there! 😂🍽️ He rarely misses an opportunity to eat.

Dragon currently lives with a medium-sized dog, but he’ll be honest—he’s still not a huge fan of the canine roommate. 😹 He would do best in a home with another young, playful kitten friend to help him feel comfortable and confident.

What Dragon needs most is a patient family willing to let him take his time. He may not immediately run up looking for attention, but with patience, consistency, and love, he’s learning that people can be pretty wonderful. ❤️

Dragon is ready for a family who will give him the time he needs to blossom. 🌼 Could you be his forever person or people?

Set your heart on…Singe ❤️

Singe is a sweet and playful kitten! 😻

She has a beautiful black and white tuxedo coat with a little “beauty mark” spot on her face that contributed to her name. 🖤

Singe is by far the tiniest of the litter, and just barely made the weight limit for her spay surgery. Judging by this and her mom's size, she may be a petite little cat as she grows up. 🐱

As a rescuer, when you get a call from police dispatch, you know it most likely is not going to be a pleasant one.

The call we received from them this afternoon was about a cat abandoned in a carrier at Riverside Park. Two of our amazing volunteers went to check it out.

Pictured is what we found. Here is what we’ve gleaned since then. “Marcy” is chipped. She was adopted in 2017 (not from us).

Interestingly enough, we got two calls from the owner’s number this morning before the cat was even found. We reached out and this is what we were told.

-“I rehomed her two years ago. I’ve kinda been expecting this call”

When mentioned that he had called us twice this morning before the cat was found abandoned, the excuses started.

-“It’s really easy to adopt a cat but really hard to surrender one”

-“We had a good ten years out of her”

-“She’s a really good cat but was a recluse and hid under the bed”

-“She gets really matted and I couldn’t afford a groomer”

-“Calls to rescues go unanswered”

-“You have to wait two weeks to get them in anywhere”

It is also important to note that this person drove from a city on the lakeshore to dump this cat in a park in Grand Rapids.

They dumped a senior cat who is horribly matted and overweight out in the wild.

We have no words that can help us make sense of this selfish behavior.

She is safe, has been shaved because she was so matted, and will see the vet this week for bloodwork and vaccines.
