Many pet parents relax on prevention once summer ends, but adult deer ticks become highly active in fall and will keep questing any day the temperature stays above freezing. Leaf litter, tall grass, and wood piles are their favorite cover. ๐
Keep prevention going year-round, and run a hands-on check after every walk: ears, under the collar, armpits, between toes, and around the tail. Remove any tick promptly with fine tweezers, straight out, close to the skin, and call your vet if a rash, limping, or lethargy follows.
Cooler air. Same risk. Don't stop early. ๐พ
