The CDC issues formal emergency response amidst New World Screwworm resurfacing in Texas and New Mexico.

Eradicated from the US since 1966, the New World Screwworm has now been found in livestock in Texas and as of one week ago, a dog in Lea County, New Mexico (southeastern New Mexico). Rez Vet’s own Dr. Lizzy was recently interviewed regarding the New World Screwworm.

"Rez Vet is taking this very seriously. There is always new information and recommendations coming out that we are trying to stay on top of to follow the USDA and FDA guidelines," said Schnabel. "There are medications that have received emergency and conditional approval to treat (New World Screwworm). Rez Vet does carry those medications so we can start treatment. Many of those medications are routine dewormer or flea/tick prevention that we recommend for our patients already, so NWS is just another reason to try to keep your pets up to date on this kind of routine care." - Dr. Elizabeth Schnabel, Medical Director for Rez Vet.

Grand Junction, it's that time again! Our next low-cost vaccine clinic will be held on Sunday, June 21st at the Clifton Community Center.

Due to the summer heat, this one will be held INDOORS in the gymnasium/basketball courts at the community center (the beautiful rust-colored building behind the Clifton Library).

Just park in the lot behind the community center and follow the signs into the gymnasium with your pet where you can wait inside.

Once again, we have hundreds of dollars in gift cards donated by our wonderful friends at Tractor Supply Co. and Chow Down Pet Supplies Inc. to give away to a couple lucky attendees!

Hello Ute Mountain Ute Reservation! We have a special, one day clinic planned for you on Friday, June 26th at the Ute Mountain Dog Shelter in Towaoc, CO by the casino!

Why is this so special?? Because it will be TOTALLY FREE to all attendees thanks to our very generous partners!

You read that right... all vaccines, preventatives and sick or injured pet exams/treatments are being offered at ZERO cost to you! This clinic is open anyone and everyone!

(Donations will be graciously accepted and will support our ongoing efforts to provide veterinary care to those who need it most, but are absolutely NOT required for services!)

The numbers are in and we are THRILLED to announce that our Crownpoint clinic was our most impactful yet! Over the course of three days, our team was able to accomplish the following:

Total pets treated: 648
Urgent care cases: 121
Life-saving vaccines administered: 1,220
Preventative medications administered: 1,249

We couldn't do this without our amazing volunteers, clients, and our partners who make this work possible. Thank you to everyone who helped us make this clinic such a success. We're changing the world together, one pet at a time!

Crownpoint, we can't thank you enough for the incredible turnout these past three days! You asked us to come here and then you came through for us, bringing us hundreds of pups and kitties to treat each day.
