Fry is ready to party 🥳

At first, he wasn't sure what to make of me trying to put stuff on his head. But once he figured out I wasn't hurting him, he let me put the cone and rings on. Training should be fun as much as it should be productive.

Painted Maple Farm has availability for lessons, training clients, and two boarding stalls: one Full Care and one Training Stall!

We focus on solid horsemanship with a horse-first, foundation-first approach. Using dressage basics and proper self-carriage, we build well-rounded horses ready to take on just about anything. Trails, obstacles, and groundwork are all key parts of our lesson and training programs.

Lessons focus on developing thoughtful, confident riders with a strong foundation in feel, communication, and versatile horsemanship, both in and out of the saddle.

Our horses get as much turnout as possible, with individualized feed programs tailored to each horse’s needs. Every horse and human is different, and we believe in treating them that way.

Once he settled a few moments after unhooking him, he went back to his stall. Hes a smart boy and that’s where part of problem lies. Fry has learned and been conditioned to associate people with doing, not still. He'll pick up on it quick, he's already making progress.

If your trainer doesn’t like your horse, find another trainer.

Not every horse is going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Some are quirky, some are sensitive, some are a little slower to catch on, and some make you wonder if there’s actually anything going on between those ears.

Just because a horse isn’t a trainer’s preferred breed, discipline, or personality doesn’t mean that horse isn’t worth their time or effort.

There’s a big difference between a horse that genuinely struggles with something and a trainer who has already decided they don’t like the horse.

As an owner, you’re paying someone to educate your horse, not judge it for what it is or isn’t.

That doesn’t mean every trainer is going to click with every horse. Sometimes personalities don’t mesh, sometimes a horse needs a different approach, and sometimes a trainer simply isn’t the right fit. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But a good trainer should be able to recognize it, communicate it, and put the horse’s best interest ahead of their own ego.

And horse owners, please remember you have a choice.

You don’t have to keep your horse somewhere just because someone has a reputation, a fancy facility, or a long list of accomplishments.

Find someone who sees the potential in your horse, even if it’s not wrapped in the prettiest package.

Because every horse deserves a fair shot.

Meet French Fry! With an entrance like that, you just know he’s going to be fun!

This handsome hunk is here for the next few months to help us identify any holes in his training, build better regulation, and give him the consistency and handling he needs to succeed. Before finding his current owner, French Fry was bounced around quite a bit, so he’s coming with enough baggage to warrant a bellhop. 😂

He’s a smart, willing horse who just needs some help learning to trust himself and the people around him again. We’re excited to help him build that confidence and see where this journey takes him! 💙
