🐾🏁 SPRINGER SPRINT 2026: THAT'S A WRAP! 🏁🐾

Bigger. Faster. Stronger. And all for the love of Springers! ❤️

Our 2nd Annual MAESSR Springer Sprint 10K has officially come to an end, and what an incredible event it has been!

From the first kilometer to the final finish line, we've loved watching our participants hit the trails, explore their neighborhoods, enjoy some fresh air, and make memories with their four-legged companions.

Everyone who was logging their kilometers crossed the finish line!

And we know there’s lots of you that were participating and not keeping track, and lots of you who were logging all of your walks after the initial 10k. It’s fun to see everyone out there walking their pups (or just themselves)! We had a few families walking together, some people walking without dogs, and everything in between. There’s no wrong way to participate in the Springer Sprint!

🌟 A Few Special Shoutouts!

🐾 Monica Taylor – participating all the way from Ontario, Canada!

🐾Theron Winn – the youngest (and second year) participant at 9 years old, with his furry friends Freckles and Curly!

🐾 Nadia Andrijiw, Kim Bolster, and Daniel Keppler – all recorded more than 35 km during the week!

And let's not forget our four-legged participants! From squirrel distractions and spooky Halloween decorations to post-walk swims and plenty of sniffing breaks, our Springers certainly kept things interesting!

The real winners? The dogs of MAESSR

Thanks to our amazing participants and supporters, this year's Springer Sprint raised an amazing profit of $1,662.43 for Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue! Thank you to each and every one of you who registered, made additional donations, shared photos and support MAESSR all year round.

But this event was about so much more than kilometers and finish lines.

Every registration, donation, and show of support helps MAESSR continue its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving forever homes for English Springer Spaniels in need.

Your generosity helps provide veterinary care, medications, food, and other essentials for dogs who deserve a second chance. Some arrive needing very little, while others require extensive medical care, patience, and time. No matter their circumstances, every Springer deserves a chance at a happy ending.

And that's what you helped make possible.

🐾🏁 SPRINGER SPRINT 2026 – WE DID IT! 🏁🐾

The finish line has officially been crossed, and what an incredible sprint it has been! 🎉

Our 2nd Annual MAESSR Springer Sprint 10K wrapped up yesterday, and we're so thrilled with the participation! 🏅🐶

A special shoutout to Wendy Frey (10.364 km) and Lisa Venker (11.667 km) for bringing it home and helping us finish strong! 👏

📸 Today's featured sprinter is Chaps, who enjoyed some quality walking time with Jean Eberly! Nothing beats getting those kilometers in with a four-legged friend by your side! ❤️🐾

We're not quite finished celebrating! Stay tuned for our official Springer Sprint wrap-up, where we'll recognize some special participants, share how much money we raised, and, most importantly, show you how your support makes a difference for the English Springer Spaniels in MAESSR's care. ❤️

🐾 Perry (Class of 2023) and Sigmund (Class of 2021), adopted by Daniel Keppler, have been out putting in their Sprint miles! Meanwhile, Jack (Class of 2018) says that at his age, he'd rather stay home, thank you very much. 😂 And with two Goldens who get their own separate walks, it’s no wonder Daniel finished the Sprint so fast!

👻 Wendy Frey and Jordan “Jojo” encountered some seriously spooky sights on their walk. We have a feeling they'll be choosing the other side of the road next time! 😂

🐿️ And Jeremy, Theron, and Amy checked in with Freckles and Curly (Class of 2025) after the pair enjoyed an impromptu squirrel hunt earlier in the day. Those two are quite the team!

An update on the 84 dogs rescued from that house near Doncaster.

In April last year the RSPCA removed 84 dogs and two cats from a property in Tickhill, where they had been living in filth. Most were springer spaniels, left unneutered and allowed to breed until the numbers ran away entirely. Many were underweight, injured and in need of urgent veterinary care.

All but one were rehabilitated and rehomed. The one who could not be saved was put to sleep to prevent further suffering. That 83 others came through it is down to an enormous amount of work.

Since the story went round again, the families who took them in have been sharing how they are getting on. Walks, beaches, toys, sofas and a great many extremely spoilt spaniels.

Here are a few of them:

jaynie jade: For those of you wondering, this is our beautiful Jax. He was rescued from this awful house in April 2025. He had lived his first year of life in there. He is now the happiest boy ever. His life is full of love and cuddles, just as he deserves.

hobbylucy1: We adopted Max, we had him just over a year, because he was cooped up in this house for 2 years his back legs didn't develop properly. We have spent over 10 grand fixing him up. He is now on the mend and loved and safe and spoilt.

lifetimeandadaymedia: This is our gorgeous Lily we rescued from here via the RSPCA. She's the happiest, most loving and affectionate dog we've ever known. She now lives happily in Liverpool with her Labrador sister. She's ball obsessed and has recently learnt to swim, although that's a work in progress.

Elizabeth Arnold: This is our Gary, he is mad as a box of frogs but wouldn't change him for the world. Still very nervous on certain things but has got so much better.

Libby.tay: This is Phoenix, she is one of the spaniels. We rescued her from RSPCA Preston, she is the most gentle and loving dog.

Mac the Spaniel: this is mac, one of the dogs from this home. happy and healthy one year on.
