This rescue is my way of advocating for LGDs in need as well as the people who care about them and try to help. I am proud of this multi-faceted approach! Thank you for being where you can see this - and for being part of the solution! Good for us!

An act of kindness - ONE person can indeed make such a difference. As I worked with a student in my course to find a suitable partner for her female Maremma pup, rescue was considered and an adult male LGD seemed like a possibility. We made the decision to go a different direction, but this dog in need was not forgotten. The following is a quote (shared with her permission) from Nicole about what she did to help protect this dog she had not even met. I am in awe of her.

"You may remember the adult dog Fynn whose owner got divorced and had to sell her farm and was not able to afford his vet care or to keep him. I had wanted to take him but was worried our male Pyrenees would not tolerate another male and you agreed that was a concern. I’ve been trying to find Fynn a home ever since but the first few fell through since the owner could not meet the people half way due to lack of a reliable vehicle. Anyway, he also had skin issues due to fleas and was digging and causing hot spots. I paid for him to go to the vet and get treated, tested for heartworm (negative thankfully), and I remembered someone I knew in Iowa who has poultry and goats (which is what he guarded previously). They are picking him up next weekend and he will be joining their Akbash to guard the farm! I’m so happy about it!!!"

Tucker and Annie are sanctuary dogs. What a wonderful life to offer dogs with a tortured past. Would you like to help? Sponsorship of sanctuary dogs will help me bless more LGDs in need.

I invite you to be involved in this important work! FOSTER – ADOPT – DONATE – VOLUNTEER

Welcome! I run a large ranch in Southern Oregon and count on my livestock guardian dogs to protect my animal family. In my years as a breeder of registered Maremma Sheepdogs I became aware of the incredible need of owners to understand and train their dogs; I was one of them! In 2019, I stepped down as a breeder and became a full-time trainer and educator for LGDs and their owners; I produced my online LGD training courses in early 2024. I stepped up as a foster for Gentle Giants Guardian Rescue in July, 2024 and that changed my life once more. I created my own rescue so that I can do more for LGDs, particularly local LGDs in need. My ranch has long been a sanctuary for LGDs that don't do well in other environments.
But I can't do this work alone. Even just the consideration of finances dictates that I need support from others who care about these incredible dogs and want to be part of an effort to protect them that they can be proud of. Please follow this group and consider how you can help. Every-single-person can help in some way: foster, adopt, donate, volunteer - and spread the word about this unique rescue and sanctuary!
