Kitty is what made me finalize exactly what direction our Rescue was going to go. She's 18 years old n dumped at a shelter by the only owner she has known. When I arrived she was still in the intake room. Poor kitty was timestamped and never even made it out of intake. Kitty has a home now where she will live out her life knowing stability & unconditional love. She hates the carrier which makes vet trips challenging but she inspired me to help other cats like her in need of a second chance so Karen's Kitty Katz Rescue has been formed.
ADOPTED 🎉🎉

🎥VIDEO: Super senior Kitty: https://youtube.com/shorts/6pgH9BOItDI?feature=share
Kitty is an 18-year-old senior kitizen who arrived as an owner surrender on November 21st due to a new member of the household being allergic to her. They had her since 2006 and had many great things to say about her. Overall, she was a low-energy cat who enjoyed naps and relaxing, although she did like to play independently with toys in her home. She is a bit shy and shut down at the shelter, but does allow handling. She has the biggest, most beautiful eyes! When examined, Kitty was noted to have chronic ear infections, dental disease, and a heart murmur. Due to these medical concerns, along with her advanced age, Kitty is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or an experienced adopter
MEDICAL:
On 11/22, Kitty received a vet exam due to being 18 years old. Iris atrophy was observed in both eyes, along with an unkempt coat and was dehydrated by turgor. Dried purulent debris, redness, and swelling were noted in both ears, with the right ear being more severely affected. Diffuse gingivitis, heavy calculus, and gingival recession were present, along with a grade III heart murmur. She was also in thin body condition with some muscle wasting and a stiff, slow gait, possibly indicating osteoarthritis. Mild hyperglobulinemia was also observed.
BEHAVIOR:
Owner surrender notes: She lived with adults and children as young as 4 years old and was described as a low-energy couch potato who enjoys napping or relaxing on the couch or other furniture. She enjoyed playing independently with toys, such as mouse toys, balls, or other types of toys she could chase. She used the litter box well, with only occasional accidents, and enjoyed scratching on various surfaces. She could be nervous, fearful, and shy around strangers and other children, and did not like dogs. She had not been around other cats.
