There is a lot of information, which is why there is both a Short and Long Version. If you have any questions, please let me know by whatever means are most convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you! - g^2

Short Version:

- until we get there: management, quality communication, and training
- checks made out to Gregarious Dog Training, LLC; or cash
- payment by other means can be made with advance arrangements
- $90/hour (plus mileage, if relevant)
- regardless of the total time, evaluations are a flat $90
- text messages are preferred for short notes
- emails are preferred for long notes
- texts are returned as I can, emails each evening, calls each morning
- Sundays are Family Day

Too long version:
I have been training people to train their dogs since 1995 using dog-friendly techniques. What this means is that I use the science of animal behavior to understand dogs and change their behavior in ways that dogs comprehend and are supportive of a trusting relationship. In other words, I use rewards to encourage the activities we like (usually starting with treats, eventually switching to life rewards - AKA positive reinforcement) and removal of desirable people or items to discourage undesirable behavior (timeouts, removal of toys, etc. - AKA negative punishment). The worst thing that happens during training is that the dog doesn't get the treat, and the worst thing that purposefully happens in life is a timeout. However, management and meeting the dogs' physiological needs are where we start. Dog behavior services are $90/hour (cash or check made out to Gregarious Dog Training, LLC, cards with arrangements in advance through services like Zelle (preferred), Gmail billing, or PayPal (if absolutely necessary), etc. These are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to schedule a session, please text, email, or call me. I text on and off all the time, I usually return emails each evening and calls each morning. Below is my current availability for private sessions; I also teach classes from Puppy Kindergarten and Life Skills to therapy dog prep in Gardnerville at multiple venues. I live in New Washoe City and work the entire 395 corridor in Nevada and beyond. Each line is in the format of month and date, day of the week, available time slot(s) for the day, and my location, or origin and destination if traveling (so that mileage and time can be taken into account - roughly calculated at $0.30/mile one-way, and only relevant if I am not already nearby).

Rocket*, a 6-year-old ESS/Lab rescue, and I have an extended wake up routine, which starts with my alarm going off. I roll flat on my back and do a big stretch, immediately followed by kisses and pets and scritches and snuggles. While I am getting dressed, he will patiently sit next to me on the end of the bed, waiting for me to finish. As soon as I am ready, I will turn to fully face him, slowly raise my arms out, and then release him to throw his front paws over my shoulders and get more kisses and pets and scritches (no more cuddles, unless I want to risk going back to sleep). Every morning. For a few years now.

What’s a tiny ritual you and your dog have that means a lot to you?

Have you ever accidentally created a cue for your dogs? I have!

I am a clumsy cook, and I was always dropping things in the kitchen, often saying, "Oops!" when I would do so. My dogs figured this pattern out pretty quickly, so anytime I would say 'oops' when I was in the kitchen, everybody would come running to hopefully score some dropped food. In time it became a party trick.

I happen to share this video with a client earlier today, and I thought I would share it with the rest of you as well! This is a very good harness-acclimation video from kikopup on YouTube. More details in comments, but my topline recommendation is always: work at the team's pace.

This video is dedicated to all the little dogs in the world who run...

Reportedly, no bunnies were hurt in the making of this video. However, if you are struggling with having your dog leave things alone, or not giving them to you or dropping them on cue, we can help! Leave it, take & give, and drop are part of both the Puppy Preschool and Life Skills curriculum.

I don't think there could be a better dog-related post than this on !

If your dog is a d*ckhead, I can help. And we can do so without being mean, hurtful, or scary.

Excellent information, particularly these days in our region.

🌞🐾 Protect Your Pup’s Paws during hot Summer Days 🐾🌞
Summer sunshine is fabulous, but those sizzling sidewalks and scorching asphalt can cause serious burns to your dog’s sensitive paw pads! If it's too hot for your bare feet, it’s definitely too hot for theirs. 🔥👣
🚫 Avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day.
Instead, choose cooler times like:
🕕 Early morning (before 10am)
🌅 Late evening (after 6pm)
🐕💡Keep your pup active and happy with these safe alternatives:
* Indoor play with toys or puzzle feeders
* Short walks on grassy or shaded areas
* Fun training sessions at home
* Swimming (if they love water!)
🚨 If your dog does burn their paws:
✔️ Get them off the hot surface ASAP
✔️ Gently rinse their paws with cool (not cold) water
✔️ Apply a pet-safe antiseptic or paw balm
✔️ Call us right away - burns can get infected or lead to limping and pain
Let’s keep those tails wagging and those paws happy all summer long! 🐶❤️
Have questions or need advice? Call us - we’re always here to here to help!
