Can you help us help cats?

We're studying cats with chronic kidney disease and anemia to see whether iron supplements improve outcomes.

Don't have a cat? Please share to help us widen our search. Our research changes lives every day! 🔬

Thank you so much for our kitty litter angels! The foster kitties are SO grateful as we were down to one last box of litter (which that’s never a good thing! 😂)!

This is the power of community and we are so so grateful! Weeble, Wobble, Orion, Roswell, Luna and Tusky all say THANK YOU!

Start grabbing a few gallons of water every grocery store trip — or more if you own horses — and getting those animal carriers, rigs and trailers in shape: Hurricane season 2026 has arrived.☂️

The good news is that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting below-normal activity in the Atlantic this year, with a 35% chance of a near-normal season, a 10% chance of an above-normal season and a 55% chance of a below-normal season. 🔆

Here are a few things you can take care of now:

🐴 Get vaccinations, worming and hoof care up-to-date.
🐕 Make sure your dog’s collar has an ID and keep an extra leash near the pet carrier so you don’t have to find it.
🐈‍⬛ If you don’t have a carrier, get one or store away a simple cardboard box. A common reason people get caught in bad weather is because they do not have carriers for cats.

✅ Let's be weather-wise before the worries start!

Urgent update on Reba. 💔

Since leaving the vet yesterday, Reba has declined. Her temperature is back up to 103.2, and she has stopped eating and drinking.

Her foster is rushing her to Matthews now for emergency care. Please keep Reba in your prayers and send all the positive thoughts you can.

If you’re able to help with her medical expenses, donations are greatly appreciated. We will update as soon as we have answers. ❤️🐾

Thank you so much to our folks that do in kind donations and send stuff from the wishlist! Today we got litter boxes for Weeble and Wobble for their hopeful new homes and some toys for them!

We need some litter this week, enrichment bones, broth and Tide are at the top of the list! If anyone wants to send some items that support the foster and sanctuary kiddos it would mean the world!

Good morning from Boots & Willow!

What does it take to keep horses in rescue!?

Well this week Boots got shots and Willow got shots and dental!

They both have farrier visits too where they get their feet done as well.

These are the needs of horses in rescue plus hay, grain and medical supplements!

Now why are Boots and Willow rescues? Well, Boots didn’t start that way, but she got a very rare condition (3% liklihood) after an injury in the field as a baby (we presume as she was a very well cared for little baby but babies do silly things). Willow was a neglect case with slipper feet and was initially saved by Flare Oaks Rescue and then came to work as a therapy pony and find permanent sanctuary. Willow is now retired and spends her days resting and being loved on.

These ponies may have some extra needs (Willow’s visit showed some cataracts starting as she is 18-20+ years old) and Boots is only 4 but after immense life saving surgeries at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital (she could not walk without it and it was all privately funded at that time) she is being monitored for her well being but due to arthritis (she has no cartilage in her right shoulder now) she will “be let go on a good day” but hopefully in a few more years but we always monitor for her comfort and well being.

If you’d like to support the pony side of AASR medical these ponies always welcome donations for more 🥕 🍎… no no we mean vet bills and shoe bills… don’t listen to them. 😂

We are sharing Duke because his story is special. His mom worked with CrisisDogs NC as a foster and a huge advocate, but she got really sick and isn’t going to be getting better. So her babies needed somewhere to go, and they stepped up and gave back to their Mom who gave their all for animal rescue. Now Duke is searching for a soft place to land and he’s perfect. So, if you are hoping for some GSD love, Duke could be the one for you. ❤️
