At So Fetch Dog Training, I am dedicated to fear free, science-based training methods. This means I do not use aversives such as prongs and e-collars. Studies show that these tools lead to negative behavior fall out and only appear to work by shutting the dog down creating the illusion of a calm dog. Instead, I focus on making training fun (for you and your dog). This way your dog will WANT to listen to you!

Handsome Izzy is one of my regulars and instead of skipping sessions in the summer time, we do enrichment in his home. Enrichment toys, hiding treats for him to search, fun training, and learning silly new tricks like holding a treat on his nose!

Please do not take your dog outside in this heat!! Go walk them in air conditioned stores or stay home and do some fun enrichment/training/structured play. 🥵

Day 1 to Day 4 transformation of Bella happily responding to “let’s go”. I like playing this game to reinforce following and to give a verbal cue for when it’s time to turn or just keep moving. To start it’s best to have your dog on a 15’ long line.

Every dog is different and to be honest I’ve gotten this far in one day with some dogs. However, you always have to take in the whole picture and have realistic expectations. Bella doesn’t get out much and so she was overstimulated for the first couple of days that she was barely interested in treats. However, day 4 she acclimated much quicker. Seeing the training finally click for Bella today was such a big win. 🥹

Harley’s task of bringing her mom’s meds is coming along nicely! 👏🏻

I love using the hand target method as one of the beginning stages of heel. Once your dog knows the touch cue you can use your hand (on the side you want them to heel) to give more clarity on what you’re asking.

It’s fun to make a game out of it by tossing a treat away and then letting your dog run to catch up and nose your hand.

This was a quick wrap up after a Home Depot outing so Bella did really well considering she was already tired out. 👏🏻

Realistic settling in public. Harley did a great job! Such a young puppy in a new environment with so many exciting things!

Happy 4th from Kiwi and Forest! 🇺🇸🐾

Play music or have the tv on and give long lasting treats tonight. If your vet has prescribed medication definitely use it if needed.

8 month old Bella’s first time at Home Depot and already working on beginning stages of heel! Lots of acclimating first though and working on engagement.
