Meet Blue, the newest pup at Maci Blue Pet Care.

Sweet Blue has three legs after surviving an attack by two neighboring dogs who broke through their electric fence and attacked her. Despite everything she’s been through, this beautiful girl hasn’t let it slow her down.

We are so happy to welcome Blue to the Maci Blue family!😊💙🐶

Happy National Black Dog Day!

National Black Dog Day is celebrated annually on October 1st to raise awareness about the adoption challenges faced by dark-coated dogs!

Purpose and Significance
• Black Dog Syndrome: This term describes the trend where black dogs often stay in shelters longer and face lower adoption rates than lighter-coated dogs.
• Myths and Stigma: Outdated superstitions and media tropes have sometimes cast black dogs as intimidating or unlucky, though their temperaments are just as loving and gentle as any other dog.
• Photographic Challenges: Dark fur can make it harder to capture expressive facial features under harsh shelter lighting, reducing visibility in online adoption listings.
How to Celebrate
• Adopt: Consider giving a black dog in a local rescue or shelter a permanent home.
• Volunteer: Spend time walking or helping properly photograph shelter dogs with dark coats.
• Donate: Support animal welfare groups or emergency medical funds that aid shelter animals.
• Share: Post photos of your black pets on social media using tags like to highlight their beauty and friendly personalities.
