Tinkerbelle & Tina (now Sassy & Nessie) adopted in October 2025

Sassenach a.k.a. Sassy (short hair) and Nessie (long hair) were adopted at two months old from safe hands rescue. These two sweet babies were found in a ditch in Kentucky and brought to Minnesota to find their forever family! They have been growing and thriving in their adoptive home. Sassenach is a curious lass while Nessie is more timid, but a cuddle bug! Their owner is so thankful to have them!

🐾Featured Adoptable Dog - Jackson🐾

Jackson is working to master "sit", but he’s a smart boy and picking it up quickly. He loves going for walks, eating crab apples off the tree or taking rides in the car. On car rides he’s pretty chill and lays down in his bed or sticks his head out of the window to catch all the smells.

Jackson is 6 months old, weighs 15 lbs and the perfect mix of energy and chill! He's the type of dog that could enjoy fun activities like agility, and at the same time be perfectly content with a daily walk. He’s a good snuggler and enjoys sleeping with his young humans.

Jackson is being featured tomorrow night Friday, May 29th at Pitch-a-Friend at Sociable Cider Werks Northeast at 7pm. Pitch-A-Friend Twin Cities is partnering with Safe Hands Rescue to help get adoptable dogs seen by a new audience. 📢Please share and spread the word!

It's Golden Ticket Time! Together, saving lives is what we do! Pictured are the lucky kids who arrived nearly two weeks ago into Safe Hands, thanks to the kind humans named under each photo. That could be you!
So many more really deserving kids hope to be on the transport this weekend! To board the van on Friday, they need a Golden Ticket and a Foster Home. There are so, so, so many waiting for their chance to board the van. Please help if you can. We have been recruiting for foster homes all week and we still need more, but now it's time to focus on Golden Tickets for them.
Each Golden Ticket helps cover the cost of transportation from Kentucky to Minnesota, vet exams, vaccinations, and health certificates. In return, we send you a photo of the homeless pet you sponsored, and a Golden Ticket certificate, proving that you are amazing! We also let everybody know here on Facebook, and on our website. The new kids need Golden Tickets and foster homes every transport throughout the year. That means every other week, sometimes more often!

We Need You! Medication Volunteer - Pre-Intake

Are you detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and passionate about animal welfare? Our Medication Volunteer Pre-Intake role is behind-the-scenes but an essential part of every intake day — preparing standard take-home medications for incoming animals. Help give every foster animal the best start — right from day one.

What you'll do...
🐕Prepare medications using cross-references grids for appropriate dosages
📝Complete foster care sheets with full instructions
✏️Note any follow-ups needed at vetting and flag unclear instructions
🧹Keep the medication station clean

You're a great fit if you...
🧐Have a keen eye for detail and accuracy
🩺Are comfortable learning basic vet medications
🐈Work well with diverse groups of people
🐕Care about animal welfare
⏰Available to volunteer 2-4 hours, once every 2-4 weeks on Saturday mornings

📢Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸 We hope you're enjoying the long weekend with the people (and pets!) you love.

❤️Our Brighter Days 2026 campaign launches June 1st — one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and every dollar raised goes directly to animals who need a second chance at a good life.

🐾Ike & Iva were found behind a store, next to a dumpster in this closed up box; literally left as trash. They are at our Safe House now receiving lifesaving care. Ike was very listless and rushed to our vet where we discovered he is severely anemic and has a systemic infection. Day by day he's growing stronger with medications and round the clock care. When you set up a fundraiser and help raise funds, you are saving lives like Ike's.
