Rusty – Chocolate Male X, 7 years, 55 lbs. (on site soon)

Say hello to Rusty, a lovable 7-year-old chocolate Lab mix with a heart as big as his adorable puppy-dog eyes. 💙

Rusty is the definition of an easygoing companion. He’s the kind of dog who is happy doing just about anything as long as he’s with his people. Want an adventure buddy? Rusty is ready. Want to spend the afternoon relaxing on the couch? He’s already claimed the cuddle spot beside you.

This sweet boy gets along great with dogs of all sizes and absolutely enjoys spending time playing with his foster brother. He’s also wonderful with children of all ages and has the gentle, patient personality that makes everyone around him feel comfortable. Rusty is potty trained, crate trained, well behaved in the home, and knows his basic commands like the good boy he is.

Some of Rusty’s favorite things include zooming around the backyard, taking relaxing naps, enjoying couch cuddles, and cooling off with a little dip in the pool. He’s even learned how to safely find the stairs and climb out on his own after swimming, smart and adorable!

Rusty would thrive in a home where he can continue being part of the family and included in everyday life. While he loves other dogs, he would do best in a home without cats.

If you’re searching for a loyal best friend with a calm spirit, playful side, and endless love to give, Rusty is waiting to meet you. One cuddle from this boy, and you’ll understand why everyone falls in love with him. 🐾 Apply for Rusty at www.labrescuefresno.org

Brei – Black Female, 9 years, 65 lbs.

At 9 years old, Brei (short for Breeze), thought she had already found her forever story. For years, she lived beside the person she loved most — following him from room to room, napping quietly nearby, and greeting every day with her soft wagging tail and gentle eyes. She was his shadow, his comfort, and his very best friend.

But when her beloved owner passed away, her whole world changed.

Even through the sadness, she has remained the same beautiful soul she has always been — calm, loving, patient, and wonderfully well-mannered. She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much. A cozy place to nap, kind words, and someone to love are more than enough for her.

She has been a pampered house pet her entire life and it shows in all the best ways. She’s perfectly house trained, crate trained, and knows exactly how to settle in like a little lady. At bedtime, or whenever she needs comfort, she quietly walks herself right into her crate to sleep or patiently wait for instructions. No fuss, no chaos — just a gentle heart wanting to please.

Brei is dog friendly, cat friendly, and incredibly easygoing with everyone she meets. She’s used to a dog door and happily keeps her routine simple and tidy. Her favorite thing is simply being near people, soaking up affection, and offering quiet companionship in return.

She may be a senior girl, but her heart is full of love and loyalty just waiting for another family to share it with. After losing the person she loved most, she deserves a soft landing, a warm bed, and someone who will remind her that she is still safe, still cherished, and still home.

If you’re looking for a calm, faithful best friend with the sweetest soul, this beautiful Black Lab is waiting patiently for her second chance. Apply for Brei at www.labrescuefresno.org

Buffy – Yellow Female, 1 year, 60 lbs. (on site soon)

Meet Buffy — The Chosen One

In every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the tennis balls, the squirrels and the forces of darkness. She is the Labrador.

Well, our Buffy isn't fighting the undead, but she is fully prepared to slay your heart! This 1 year old, 60 lb. yellow labrador retriever is ready to leave the Hellmouth behind and find her forever Scooby Gang. If you are looking for a gorgeous, high-energy sidekick who is equal parts brains, beauty, and absolute drive, Buffy is your girl.

Her signature move? Fetch. Endless fetch. Buffy is absolutely obsessed and would happily patrol the backyard for rogue tennis balls from sunrise to sundown. She’s fast, focused, and determined. Basically, the canine equivalent of staking vampires before breakfast.

This girl is smart, learns at supernatural speeds, and is highly motivated to please. Buffy thrives when she is given clear direction and boundaries. Because she is a young, high-energy lab with a lot of drive, Buffy isn't looking to be a couch potato. She needs a job. Whether that job is advanced obedience, agility courses, dock diving, or becoming an adventure buddy, she is ready for a structured outlet for that brilliant brain and drive. She wants to work with you, and with the right training, she is going to be an absolute save the world level Slayer.

If you’re searching for a clever, active, fetch powered best friend who’s ready to slay every adventure by your side, Buffy is waiting to meet you. Apply for Buffy at www.labrescuefresno.org

COURTESY POST - PLEASE SHARE:

Selma contacted us a week ago about this beautiful girl named River. We receive requests almost daily from shelters, owner surrenders, and found dogs. It’s heartbreaking because we simply cannot help them all. River desperately needs a safe place to land — whether that’s through a foster under rescue or someone willing to step up and adopt this sweet girl. GO ADOPT!!

River appears to have had untreated ear infections for quite some time, something we unfortunately see far too often. Her ears will need treatment, and of course we are willing to help with her medical care and getting her spayed if we can find a foster. If you are local and wish to help, please see: https://labrescuefresno.org/become-a-foster/

From the shelter:

“River came in as a stray on 4/24/26. She is estimated to be 1–2 years old, female, intact. She is your typical happy-go-lucky girl. She loves playing in the yard, jumping in the pools, and playing fetch. She is good with dogs with proper introductions and has been making friends. She is very loving and absolutely loves butt scratches.”

“I am not sure if your rescue has any availability at all to assist River, but we would be very appreciative of even a courtesy post if able.”

River is currently at Selma Animal Services. Please contact:

Corie – Yellow Female X, 15 weeks, 23 lbs.

This adorable little girl has a yellow Labrador mama… and absolutely no clue who dad was 😄

Mama gave birth in a carnival storage field in rural Fresno County, and luckily for her and her siblings, carnival season in the Valley was about to begin. Some kind Good Samaritans reached out to us, and honestly… how could we say no?

Meet Corie! She is 15 weeks old, about 23 pounds, and packed full of personality. She’s sweet, sassy, independent, cuddly, playful, and just an all-around fun puppy to have around.

Corie is fully potty trained, loves playing in the water, and does great with cats and kids. At her foster home, she’s been busy helping supervise 4-week-old and 7-week-old puppies 😄 She’s a confident, happy girl who enjoys being part of the action.

She is not crate trained because she has earned the privilege of being loose at night and has done wonderfully.

Corie is truly a fantastic pup and ready for a forever family of her own.

If you’d like to learn more about Corie, please fill out an application at www.labrescuefresno.org

It’s meet the Team Thursday! This week, we would like to shine the spotlight on Sue.

Sue has worn many hats during her 8 years with Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. From adopter to foster, transporter, mentor, fund raiser, and even an event coordinator! Sue has done it all! Perhaps most importantly, she has been a truly remarkable ambassador for the dogs of Lab Rescue Fresno.

Very few people can say they are actively involved in even a fraction of the charities that Sue works with regularly. She continues to support our efforts to better our surrounding community alongside many other local organizations and charities. To name a few, La Feliz Guild of Valley Children’s Healthcare, The Ride Foundation’s Healing with Horses, and a member of the Hinds Life Care LOSS Team. All of these organizations seek to serve our community and Sue plays a vital role in each.

Oh, we’re not done! If you don’t see Sue at any of those places, you can catch her at work in the real estate funding business OR on the golf course or tennis courts! We know all of Sue’s endeavors are important to her, but we also know her favorite name is ‘Grandma.’ She spends time with her two Sons and their families, including her 3 grandchildren.

All of us at LRRF are thankful for Sue’s years of dedication, not only to the Labradors, but to her community in countless ways that cannot possibly be measured.

We’re proud to know you and thank you for all you do and continue to do for so many Sue!

Duke – Yellow Male, 10 years old, 85 lbs. 🤎

Meet Duke, 85 pounds of pure cuddles and companionship. Duke is the kind of dog who makes life quieter, softer, and better just by being near you. He loves car rides, leisurely walks, belly rubs, and simply being close to his people. In the house he is calm, obedient, and low key — happy to relax on his bed until called. He is house trained, rarely barks, and does well with a variety of dogs. Cats are unknown.

One of Duke’s sweetest traits? He absolutely adores men and will happily plant himself beside the easy chair whenever company comes over. He is gentle around noise and chaos, choosing peace and comfort whenever possible.

Duke came to Lab Rescue after his beloved owner passed away. Sadly, it was some time before his person was found, and Duke and the other dogs were left alone until they could be rescued. He was clearly loved and cared for, and understandably confused and heartbroken for a while after losing everything familiar to him.
But like so many senior dogs, Duke lives in the present. He has healed with grace and become the quiet, steady gift that older dogs so often are.

Now Duke is waiting for a soft place to land — a forever home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by comfort, kindness, and love. He doesn’t ask for much. Just a warm bed, a few walks, and someone to love him for the treasure he is. Apply for Duke at www.labrescuefresno.org

Pepper #2 – Black Female X, 8 yrs, 80 lbs.

Meet Pepper — a sweet, loyal girl with a heart as big as her beautiful brown eyes. At 8 years old, she’s left the puppy chaos behind but still has plenty of pep in her step and so much love to give.

Pepper absolutely adores people and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans. Whether she’s splashing in the pool, playing fetch, enjoying tummy rubs, or posing politely for treats, she’s happiest simply being loved. She’s a smart girl with good house manners, takes treats gently, and enjoys the simple things in life — especially chicken and rice, apples, and cuddle time.
While Pepper has played with dogs her size before, she’s reached the stage in life where she’d really prefer to be your one and only. She wants all the love, attention, and cozy moments to herself. We do not know how she is with cats.

Pepper may pull a little on leash at first, but with patience and consistency, she settles in beautifully. She’s the perfect balance of playful and calm — ready for walks, toys, water fun, and then relaxing by your side afterward. Going to the beach? She’s your girl!!

Senior black dogs are so often overlooked, but Pepper deserves a family who sees just how special she is. She’s loyal, affectionate, soulful, and ready to spend her golden years being someone’s best friend.

If you’d like to know more about Pepper or give this wonderful girl the forever home she deserves, please reach out to www.labrescuefresno.org and ask for Pepper!
