Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno (LRRF) is a no kill non-profit 501(c)3, that is 100% foster based (we do not have a facility).

We rescue abandoned, homeless and neglected Labradors from all over central California and beyond. We wish to end suffering and promote the welfare of labs and lab mixes through direct action and education. We provide each dog with a stable environment, love, companionship, food and veterinary care until a qualified, loving forever home is found. Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno believes that all companion animals should be treated with dignity, compassion and kindness.

Missy – Tan Doodle x, 11 months, 58 lbs. (on site soon)

Looking for a playful, cuddly companion to complete your family? Meet Missy! At just 11 months old and 58 pounds, this girl has plenty of personality and an even bigger heart!

Missy was found as a stray, severely matted and in need of help. Thankfully, she was rescued from the shelter, and now she's ready for her next chapter: finding a family to call her own.

Missy enjoys being close to her people, playing with her toys, and chasing a ball in a good game of fetch. She's still a puppy at heart, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm to share! She's also food-motivated, making continued training a fun and rewarding experience.

Here's what makes Missy a great companion:

Loving and affectionate
Loves toys and playing fetch
Does well with cats
Gets along with both large and small dogs
Very good with children
Crate-trained and house-trained
Knows how to use a doggy door
Food-motivated and eager to learn

At 11 months old, Missy is still learning her manners. She can get excited and jump up to show her enthusiasm, but she's working on keeping all four paws on the floor. She also has a soft mouth. With positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued guidance, she'll keep developing into a wonderful lifelong companion.

What kind of home would make Missy happiest?

Missy would thrive with an active family who includes her in daily adventures, makes time for play, and saves a spot on the couch for snuggles! She would likely enjoy having another friendly dog to keep her company and play with. If she's an only dog, she'd do best with a family who spends plenty of time with her. She wants to be part of family life, not left home alone for long periods.

Missy needs a committed family willing to guide her as she grows, help her learn, and make her a cherished part of the household.

Duke's time has run out - is there no one out there who can give him a chance to have a life??? Urgent!

DUKE NEEDS A HERO — HIS TIME HAS RUN OUT!

Meet Duke, a happy-go-lucky Lab/Collie mix who has been waiting at the Newman Animal Shelter since March 27, 2026. Months of waiting for a family of his own, and now this sweet boy is out of time.
We have been contacted before about helping Duke, but sadly, we haven't had a foster home available. Today, we learned that his situation is URGENT, and he desperately needs someone to step up and ADOPT him.
Here is what the shelter wants you to know about Duke:
• 3–4 years old
• Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped
• Loves everyone he meets
• Has done well meeting dogs both big and small
• A happy, friendly boy who deserves a chance at a real home
Duke has been waiting patiently for months. He doesn't understand shelter overcrowding or why nobody has chosen him. He just needs someone to give him a chance.

Maribel - English Yellow Female, Approx. 6 Years Old, 85 lbs. (on site soon)

Maribel’s journey to a better life hasn’t been easy. She was one of the 11 neglected dogs Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno took in from a hoarding situation in August. She arrived needing extensive medical care, suffering from Anaplasmosis (a tick-borne illness), severe skin inflammation, muscle wasting, and significant dental issues.

Thanks to everyone who donated, shared their stories, prayed, and supported these dogs, Maribel has received the care she needed. She has healed, learned what it means to be loved, and discovered the comfort of being part of a family. Now, this sweet girl is ready for her forever home!

Her foster has nicknamed her “The Nanny,” and for good reason! Maribel absolutely adores young dogs and has befriended several puppies in her foster home. She patiently tolerates their antics, even when they get right in her face, tug on her, or jump all over her. What a wonderful girl!

Maribel is looking for the simple pleasures in life: leisurely strolls, good meals, cozy naps, and someone to pet her and tell her how pretty she is. She would love a canine companion to pal around with, and she’s a bit of a social butterfly who hasn’t met a stranger yet!

She is friendly with dogs and children. Cats are an unknown, but her foster believes she might do well with a dog-savvy cat and proper introductions.

Maribel is potty trained and currently enjoys the freedom of having the run of the house, with no issues. We suspect she spent much of her earlier life confined to a crate, but those days are behind her. She’s discovering that life can be so much more than four walls and a place to sleep.

Like several of the dogs from this situation, Maribel had severely worn and missing teeth. She recently had 13 front teeth removed. She still has her back teeth, but she will need to remain on a soft-food diet. Otherwise, she is happy, healthy, and ready to start her next chapter!

Like all of our dogs, Maribel has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

All Maribel wants is a soft place to land, a kind family to call her own, and the chance to enjoy the life she should have had all along. After everything she has been through, isn’t it time this beautiful girl got her happily-ever-after?

🎉 HAPPY ADOPTION NEWS! BO HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! 🎉❤️

Our handsome chocolate boy, Bo, has been adopted by two wonderful people, Mike and Amanda, from Vacaville! And now, it’s finally Bo’s turn to enjoy the wonderful life he deserves. 🏡🐾

Mike and Amanda have been working with Bo, and he is making HUGE strides! They understand that a dog coming from an uncertain past sometimes needs time to decompress, build trust, and learn what it means to be part of a loving family.

This is exactly the kind of adoption we love to see! ❤️

Please remember, when looking to adopt, don’t always overlook the dog who isn’t quite perfect. Sometimes, the dog with a few kinks to work through is the very dog who will become the most incredible companion you’ve ever had. All it takes is patience, understanding, consistency, and a little effort.

These dogs don’t need someone to make them perfect. They need someone willing to help them become the best version of themselves. And when that happens, the rewards are immeasurable. 🐶💕

Gabby – Black Female Purebred Labrador, 6 Years, 67 lbs

💕 Meet Gabby!

If you’re looking for an all-Lab Lab, look no further! Gabby is everything we love about the breed wrapped up in one beautiful, gentle girl. She has the sweetest disposition and simply wants to be with her people.

Gabby is a total foodie and firmly believes that no meal should ever be missed! 😂 She loves people of all ages and is wonderfully social with dogs, cats, and even goats. She is gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. Her favorite place is right beside you, soaking up belly rubs, cuddles, and plenty of reassurance that she is, indeed, a very good girl.

And Gabby has some serious Lab fun in her, too! She loves squeaky toys, playtime, fetch, walks, and—oh my goodness—SWIMMING! This girl absolutely loves the water. She has a wonderful recall and is terrific on leash, but she is also a pleasure off leash and will happily walk right alongside you in a natural heel.

Gabby is equally happy enjoying the simple things in life. Most of the time, she is a calm, quiet girl who is perfectly content to relax near her people. But when the other dogs are ready to play, Gabby is more than happy to join in! She also loves going for a stroll or hopping in the car for an adventure. She is excellent in the car and gets in and out like a pro.

Gabby is very much a people dog. She wants to be close to her humans and doesn’t like being separated from them. If you leave her sight, she may bark to let you know that she has noticed your absence and would very much prefer that you come back! ❤️ Because of this, Gabby will need a home where someone is home most of the time. She is looking for people who want a devoted companion who will happily spend her days simply being by their side.

❤️ A note about Gabby's medical care

Gabby has been diagnosed with MG (myasthenia gravis), but we are very happy with how she is doing. She currently presents with no signs of MG and is doing wonderfully on her medication. She receives medication three times a day, and we have begun a carefully monitored diminishing dose. Her most recent bloodwork and titers were all normal.

Her medical needs are something her future family will need to continue managing, but Gabby herself doesn't seem to have gotten the memo that she's supposed to be anything other than a happy, loving Labrador! She is enjoying life, loves her people, loves her dog friends, and is ready for a family who will give her the same devotion she gives them.

Gabby is the kind of Lab who makes you smile just by being in the room. She doesn't need a complicated life—she wants her people, a comfy place to relax, some good food, a belly rub, a walk, a game of fetch, and maybe a swim whenever possible.
