๐Ÿพ **Why Adopt from a Rescue?** ๐Ÿพ

Bringing a dog into your family is a lifelong commitmentโ€”and choosing to adopt from a rescue can change two lives: yours and theirs.

โค๏ธ **When you adopt from a rescue, you're giving a deserving dog a second chance.**
๐Ÿ”—www.whatsupdogg.org/adoptabledogs

Many rescue dogs come from difficult situations, including neglect, abandonment, owner surrender, or overcrowded shelters. With proper care and love, they become loyal companions ready to thrive in a forever home.

**Benefits of Adopting from a Rescue:**
๐Ÿถ Save a life and create space for another dog in need
๐Ÿก Give a dog the loving home they deserve
๐Ÿ’‰ ALL of our rescue dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and receive veterinary care before adoption
๐Ÿ“‹ Rescue organizations work to match dogs with the right families
โค๏ธ Gain a grateful companion who will love you unconditionally

Adoption isn't just about finding a petโ€”it's about finding a family member.

Before adopting, take time to consider your lifestyle, activity level, schedule, and the long-term commitment involved. Responsible adoption helps ensure a successful match for both you and your new best friend.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿพ It's $5 Friday! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ

What can $5 do?

It may seem like a small amount, but when our supporters come together, those $5 donations help provide food, veterinary care, safe shelter, and second chances for dogs in need.

Every dog that enters our rescue deserves the opportunity to heal, l just $5 to help us continue our lifesaving work.

โœจ $5 from you + $5 from a friend + $5 from a neighbor = real impact for rescue dogs.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this post is another wonderful way to support our mission. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Thank you for standing with the dogs and helping us give them the future they deserve.

๐Ÿพ **June Dog Fact of the Month!** ๐Ÿพ

Did you know that dogs can become overheated much faster than people?

Unlike humans, dogs don't sweat through their skin to cool down. They primarily regulate their body temperature through panting and limited sweating through their paw pads. This makes them especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses during the warmer months.

โ˜€๏ธ Summer Safety Tips:
๐Ÿ’ง Always provide fresh, cool water
๐ŸŒณ Ensure access to shade when outdoors
๐Ÿšถ Walk during cooler morning or evening hours
๐Ÿ”ฅ Avoid hot pavement that can burn paw pads
๐Ÿš— Never leave your dog unattended in a vehicle

Signs of heat stress may include:
๐Ÿถ Excessive panting
๐Ÿถ Drooling
๐Ÿถ Weakness or lethargy
๐Ÿถ Vomiting
๐Ÿถ Collapse

A little prevention goes a long way in keeping our four-legged friends safe and comfortable this summer.

โค๏ธ Responsible pet ownership means protecting our dogs from the heat.

๐Ÿพ Understanding the Difference: Dog Rescue vs. Humane Society vs. Dog Warden ๐Ÿพ

Many people use these terms interchangeably, but they each serve very different roles in animal welfare. Understanding those differences can help you know who to contact when a dog is lost, abandoned, neglected, or in need of a new home.

๐Ÿถ Dog Rescue
A dog rescue is typically a nonprofit organization run by staff and volunteers dedicated to saving dogs from shelters, owner surrenders, neglect situations, or other at-risk circumstances. Rescues often place dogs in foster homes while they receive medical care, training, and socialization before being adopted into permanent homes.

Rescues focus on:
โ€ข Saving and rehabilitating dogs
โ€ข Finding adoptive homes
โ€ข Providing foster care
โ€ข Educating the public about responsible pet ownership

๐Ÿ  Humane Society
A Humane Society is generally an animal welfare organization that may operate a shelter, provide adoption services, investigate cruelty complaints, offer low-cost veterinary programs, and promote animal welfare within the community. Services vary by location, and not all Humane Societies have law enforcement authority.

Humane Societies often focus on:
โ€ข Animal sheltering and adoption
โ€ข Animal welfare education
โ€ข Community outreach programs
โ€ข Cruelty prevention and investigations (where authorized)

๐Ÿš” Dog Warden
A Dog Warden is a government-appointed official responsible for enforcing state and local dog laws. Their primary duties include handling stray dogs, responding to dog-related complaints, enforcing licensing requirements, investigating dog bites, and ensuring compliance with animal control regulations.

Dog Wardens typically handle:
โ€ข Stray and roaming dogs
โ€ข Dog licensing enforcement
โ€ข Dog bite investigations
โ€ข Dangerous dog complaints
โ€ข Animal control law enforcement

๐Ÿ“ž Who Should You Call?

โ€ข Found a stray dog? โ€” Contact the Dog Warden or local animal control.
โ€ข Need to report animal cruelty? โ€” Contact the Humane Society (where applicable) or law enforcement.
โ€ข Looking to adopt or foster a dog? โ€” Contact a local rescue or shelter.
โ€ข Need to surrender a pet? โ€” Contact a rescue or shelter to discuss available options.

While their responsibilities differ, all three play important roles in protecting animals and supporting the community. Working together, they help ensure dogs receive the care, safety, and homes they deserve.

***Rehome Assist***

Single mom, did 3 dogs and 3 kids on her own for 2 years and needs to downsize - she reached her limit

๐Ÿถ Enzo is 6 (April 7, 2020) about 95 pounds
๐Ÿถ Riley is 5 (October 20, 2020) about 50 pounds.

โœ”๏ธ Both are a mix and are good with cats, dogs, and children. They are spayed/neutered and current on shots.

โš ๏ธ We do NOT have the dogs in our care - we are only forwarding applications accordingly for them.
They do not have to go together, but it would be nice
