In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus encourages us to let our light shine: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16, RSVCE).
Being a witness to Jesus' love and grace involves embodying His teachings in our daily interactions. Here are some ways to do so:
1. Live by Example: Show love, kindness, and compassion in your actions. When others see the fruits of the Spirit in youâlove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)âthey are more likely to be drawn to the source of these qualities.
2. Speak with Grace: As it is written, "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer every one" (Colossians 4:6, RSVCE). Share your faith naturally in conversations, being respectful and considerate of others' beliefs.
3. Pray for Opportunities: Ask God to open doors for you to share your faith and give you the courage and words to speak when those opportunities arise. Remember, "Do not be anxious about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour" (Matthew 10:19, RSVCE).
4. Serve Others: Show Jesusâ love through acts of service, helping those in need, and being a friend to those who are lonely or struggling. As Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me" (Matthew 25:40, RSVCE).
May your actions and words reflect the love and grace of Jesus today and always, gently guiding others toward His light.
