Getting our walk in tonight. Normally we do a pack walk but the family was pulled in different directions so some got individual time before a few went together.

Let's just say I am confident that I am more tired than the dogs as I walked the whole time. That means I walked approximately 4 miles in about an hour total. I hope the dogs and this human sleep well tonight 😴.

Want to schedule a walk for your pups? Let's chat!

Our daycare client is learning to dog and gaining confidence with us during the day. It has been so fun seeing him come out of his shell some around the big dogs and kids.

Did you know that we still offer pet taxi services? We understand we live in the middle of a traffic nightmare ALL the time. To take some of the stress off of our clients we offer this service. We will come to you for a small fee. July has been busy and we are so grateful to all who have supported our small endeavor. Get on our schedule for August as spots are filling quickly.

Tonight we took a 2 mile pack walk to get energy out before bed. Those pups who are not as high energy got to stay behind and enjoy peace and quiet. Now everyone is happy and sleeping well. We are accepting bookings for in home, drop in, walking (within a 10 mile radius of our home or increased pricing due to gas prices), and 1 or 2 more daycare spots available.

We have started taking on daycare clients again as our schedule allows. So if you want your pup to have interaction with humans and dogs during the day we would be happy to chat. We have limited openings and clients would need to be flexible with drop off times and pick ups but if you are looking for this service we are opening it back up. As you can see our daycare client is loving the snuggles and attention.

Waiting on Dad to pick him up for the day. Braylyn assures him that he is coming. As bad as a kid at daycare.

Safety Post #2- Rope Harness

Earlier in the week I showed a martingale collar. Here is another tool that I use. This is a rope harness. It creates another escape proof (almost 100% as nothing is 100% but this is close) way to keep dogs safe and with me. It wraps around the body and it also makes it harder for pups to pull as it squeezes their chest when they do. Does not hurt them and it gives me more control. Both the martingale collar and rope harness are used in my house including on my guests especially now. I have been lax on this but since losing the dog I am going back to my rules. So if you see videos and pictures with your pup having these on while in our care, please know it is for safety in order to minize risk of them escaping and running off.

P.s.- ignore the sulking and whining of my brat in the background. If I give other dogs attention over her she gets an attitude. She was fine.

Warning Long Post Alert

Safety post #1: Martingale Collars...

I was first introduced to these collars when my heart dog would jump back and slip his collar often. I went through many before I found this collar and once I used it and it kept him on the leash it was all that was used until he had to cross the rainbow bridge.

I did not know what they were called until I started volunteering with a local rescue. They are required in order to adopt from said rescue and the policy was sadly created when a pup was adopted out without one, slipped their collar at their new home that day and by evening had been hit by a car. These things help save lives.

Now to the point of this post. Recently we lost a pup. We agreed to pet sit and did a pick up from their home. The owner leashed and placed them into our vehichle. Unfortunately I made the assumption that everything was good and the pup was secured. We got home and while I was walking her fur sibling into our home, my husband was bringing her in. Unfortunately she was scared due to her natural nature and the fact that it was a new place (she had only been to visit us at the old place) she jumped back and slipped her collar. I was notified and my heart sank. She was terrified so she took off and we were unable to catch her. I did all the things to try and get her back and beat myself up to the point I almost stopped pet sitting. I cried and could barely function the whole weekend and really for many days.Thankfully within a week she was located and reunited with her owner but this experience has made me even more vigilant than I already was. Ask my husband, I am a crazy person about pet safety, I literally recheck closed doors and crates many times and sometimes go back inside or call my mom who lives near me to verify our door is shut. I think sadly it has become an obsession but that isnt necessarily a bad thing.

With that being said if your pup does not have one of these, you really should consider getting one. Because pups can get away and get scared and while not 100% it does provide an extra layer of protection from escape.
